Just looking on JBA website they list the K772 UBJ for Gen 1-4 and the K6292 for the Gen 4.5. Which one is the Chevy BJ?
The K6292 is the chevy balljoint.

Why would they use a balljoint from the 70's that needs to be greased all the time?

whats the big deal in shooting some grease into a fitting anyways????? On the KJ UCAs you can reach in over the tire and 1 1/2 minutes for both sides, easy and fun, my grease gun is 4 foot from where the front of the Jeep sits so no biggie, doesn't matter if the balljoint is from a 70s Chevy pickup or a 1907 Whippet it still needs some grease every 3000 miles

Walmart sells a small grease gun that uses little 4 or 5" long grease tubes. It is the perfect size to stick in behind the tire and hit that grease fitting. It is also small enough to keep in the vehicle, if you want. The downside is your choices of grease are limited, so if you use some high-tech super grease, you can't use it. They do have lithium marine grease for it I think.
