6 bolts in the jeep frame. 3 on each side. 2 of those are in the holes from original tow hook. And also a metall bar inside the frame, no pics of that. There are 2 bolts holding my rig to the frame I have built, 1 on each side. The only place I can see that are moving are here. No movements in the jeeps frame.

what thickness of metal did you use? 1/8? or 3/16"?

Well, not sure what to say after watching those videos. The first one was scary to me, you could see the whole winch, mount and all the other stuff on the front of the KJ flex forward and then back into place after the tension was released. The second had far less flex but was still visible to me. It seems to me that if this winch was put into a tough winching scenario, things might go wrong quickly. Maybe I am wrong here though. I mean from the link to your buid it looks really beefy, maybe the winch is too high though and needs to be lower where the license plate is. :?

Glad my ARB doesn't move at all, didn't deflect any even when I was winching my buddies F250 SD with 35's buried in mud over the tires.

Like I said before, I don't know about the winch being held up above the mounts like that. It would definitely be more stable if it were horizontally in line with the mounting area.

I agree. Maybe I´ll had to get it there someday. I will inspect every inch of it after every time I used it, to see if there is any crack or bends. Even the bolts, buts they are easy to replace.
The thickness is 4 mm, about 3/16... The monunting plate where the winch in bolted to, is made of 6 mm steel, or 1/4.

Can someone please get stuck, so I can try it for real....

The biggest thing you have to worry about is it giving way all at once. With as much pressure and force as winch can generate all that business of metal and winch could come flying and REALLY FAST. I wouldn't use it if I were you until you get it relocated to where it mounts and takes away all that flex in it. Otherwise it looks like an accident waiting to happen.

I know all of the comments are constructive and should be considered, but I for one would like to thank you for at least fab'ing something new up and trying it. I am also looking for some options for front bumpers and/or winches and I am thankful to see someone trying things. Thanks!

For anyone who does not want to run an ARB, here is another option. I contacted these guys in France. it was done with a TJ Universal winch mount. They sent me the pictures of the setup thru email. Im looking for them.
If you want to visit their web site. Its interesting. These guys will bulid the jeeps for you.

Hmm. That sounds interesting. I googled "TJ Universal Winch mount and came up with a general idea of what they used. If I recall correctly, Rangerd77 found that a TJ front hitch bolts up quite nicely to the KJ with minor modification.

So the question I have now is, can you mount a winch upside down? Because It looks like that may have been what they did to get it to mount like that.

 Very interesting. This is an idea Ive had also. I was thinking of using a winch mount for a toyota pick up from www.trail-gear.com. I planned on fabbing up a brace to bolt & weld it to, In my head only  . I was thinking of using a Warn 9.0RC for its lightweight & size. Those pics are very useful. If I cant do it myself I will have pics to show to a shop of what I want.
