CB coax

I am having real troubles running my CB coax cable out of the KJ... i have tried the back end and have had bad luck twice now... water in the backend
someone said about going through the passenger side somewhere...
HELP ME O GODS OF THE KJ!!!

I can take a picture of mine when I get home. My coax cable goes into the swing door (inbetween the metal and the plastic) and then out the bottom.

i don't think my coax is long enough to go out the back to the roof rack... but anything would help!

Where is your antannae mounted? Are you mounting it on the roof, on the spare, Fenders, etc.

Mine is similar to what has been mentioned. It runs through the boot to the rear door, then out of the door between the plastic door panel, about half way across the door, then under the door and up to the spare holder. If yours isn't long enough for that, you could consider a fender mount and run it through the area around the light housing (if there's a spot) or drill (and grommet) a small hole behind the plastic panel on the sides of the cargo area.

Another thought is that I have seen one person replace the AM/FM antannae with a CB/AM/FM antannae. Not sure how well they work, but All I'm usually concerned about it talking to people within a couple hundred feet of me (on the trails).

i dont know if it's only in the 06 models but in the rear cargo area rearest passenger side under the carpet is a rubber cap that is easily removed. need to drill out the pop rivets though. hope this helps.

If you don't have enough length to run it out the tailgate, you obviously can't run it out the rear floors/fenders either. What about the path your overhead lights use?

I run mine under the edge of the rubber molding along the top of the doors down the front of the molding and around the edge at the front of the front passenger door. This can also work on the driver side. See the link in my sig and look for the overhead lighting wiriing detail photos. It shows how the molding pulls back. You can also run it under the bottom of the same molding to the frame between the doors and in from there.

i have tried that before, the wiring across the weather stripping and i had a major water problem in the drivers side floor board!

I just finished yesterday running the coax for my Wilson mag-mount and I now get a nearly perfect SWR reading. The antenna is in the center of the roof as recommended by the great CB shop I go to here in SoCal and I ran the coax in through the corner of the third brake light in the rear, down the passenger side pillar and down to the front, all of it behind the plastic pannels and it worked out very nicely.
On the rooof I notched the metal of the car body and used a dremel to carve just enough of a notch in the plastic of the light housing to fit the cable and some RTV around to seal it. The coax does run exposed for half the roof length of the car but until I work out a custom roof rack fabrication, this will work fine.

here's where i run mine

i notched the weatherstripping, used wirecutters to pull out the metal wiring in that section so it wouldn't pierce the coax

pushed the coax through where the defrost coily wire comes out, ran it down the right side moulding to the gate moulding, under the carpet to between the rear seats and up beside the passenger seat

once i get the weatherstripping pushed back on, i took black rtv and gobbed about a grape sized glob into the notch, used my finger (gloved!) and worked it around the notch and around the edges of the stripping, added a little more and shut the gate and glass and let it cure

no leaks!

my 3rd brake light leaks tho, unrelated
