Cause you keep it too clean. rock rash (kane creek bit the door), three kids, and three dogs rolling with me boosted the score.

Nothing wrong with keepin the KJ clean,easy to spot problems,prevents rust,and keeps the bushings alive longer.Anyways my KJ looks so much better when all cleaned up but at least I use mine also like you do.

). Huge difference between the two. The auto just isn't geared right.

Let me rephrase...Since I went from the TJ to the KJ, I've given hundreds of waves to other Jeeps. One was returned. Now I go out for less than 10 minutes in a 4 door JK Rubi, with the dealers stickers still on it, and a TJ and YJ both wave to me! First!

OH! You didn't see all of the other Jeep sales associates run out back and jump in their Jeeps and cruise by and wave when they were told you were taking a JK Test Drive. That, "make you feel like a real Jeeper" feel.

So you gonna keep the KJ as well? It will be hard to want to wheel in it after you get the mods going on that JK. Those things are a little goofy looking but they can wheel. I am slowly getting used to them I guess though.

Do I get to count my two girls (yet to be born)?

Plan to keep it.... but it's silly and expensive to have 2 family sized trail rigs. I really kicked around the idea of doing an SFA when I get back (or while I was gone). I wouldn't even consider it if I didn't have three boys. And they are growing at a frightening rate. Space has been getting tight for a bit now in the KJ. But when we went camping last weekend, the KJ looked like something from the Griswald's family vacation. I had a least 3 feet of crap in the rack, an the interior was packed! Wife, 3 Boys, 3 dogs... So I think the KJ will get a lunchbox in the rear and some sliders, then I'll call it done.

The JK though :twisted:

I'm trying to keep the cost of the Jeep and it's first mods under 40k...

What, exactly, is a "PRE-CJ" jeep if the first jeep product sold publically was the CJ2A in 1945? I guess you could mention the MB, but then why didn't they say "MB" which is easier than " Pre-CJ.?" Just how many MB's do you see cruising around lately? Maybe they are trying to refer to the Willys wagons & p.ups, but don't realize that the CJ pre-dates them?

They didn't include the XJ's or they excluded the much cooler FSJ's. And the old jeep p.ups have a serious cool factor.

The Wave meant more, to me, when having a jeep meant making serious concessions in order to drive a Jeep. I know that this excludes my KJ. But there is really nothing very special about driving anything jeep has made in decades in terms of skill or sacrifice. Piloting a Grand Chero to the mall is not like DD'ing a 2a on 32's or cruising in a Commando.

Maybe it is time to let the wave die? When it was primarily a biker & jeep thing, it was ok. Now even miata's & new beetles do it to each other. It just isn't special enough to bother with anymore

I think there is a spot for "bringing a new Jeeper into the world" which was worth 5 points. I'd say since you're expecting twins ... that would be 10 points. :wink:

Anyone ever seen that Discover Boating ad where the family waves at everyone from their car and everyone stares back at them like they are insane...then they get on the lake and wave at other boaters and EVERYONE waves back, regardless of what type of boat they're cruising or how cool they think they are, or how sad they really are? Good stuff.

I wave at pretty much anyone I see that has a modified off-roader. I get a lot more waves back from modded Xterras and FJs and old beater Toyota P-ups than I do the Wrangler gang. Whatever.

I agree with InCommando. Let it die. Then those that think the act of waving is theirs and theirs alone will stop acting like the rest of us are doing something wrong by waving at each other. I get more waves in our Miata anyway (from pretty much ALL other convertibles). We actually got a wave from a couple cruising in their Jeep Wrangler when we were out roadstering.

the Jeep wave is sort of like the motorcycle wave...some of my friends will only wave at other Harleys, I wave at anyone who is out there with their knees in the breeze!
As far as waves returned same thing some wave to you since you are on a Harley and some on the "other " bikes do not cause they are on a different style/brand.
Here in Toledo I don't wave at other Jeeps unless they wave cause most all are driven by people who drive them only because they work at the plant and have no idea of what that handle between the seats even does!
Now when I get down home where I grew up , everyone waves to everyone, cause we are all nice people!!! :lol:

I think most people have a hard time telling when a Libby is modded till you do a bumper. Sometimes I have to do a double take when I see a lifted Libby....................Once they are lifted and have 31's on them they look "normal" ............lol

In Colorado Springs I always got waves not matter which Jeep I was in...........................Great Jeepers down there! Everywhere else no waves period in the Libby.

And its true too! Doesnt matter if Im in a house boat or on a jetski people will wave on me on the lake. Its really neat I think.

A perfect example recently of what I meant by saying the wave meant something when driving a jeep actually took some dedication & a dash of sacrifice: A long thread about the tires on a JEEP! being "too loud." :shock:

That is why most jeeps today will never squirt dirt & even capable SUV's are viewed as soccer mom haulers. I could not imaging driving my previous CJ2a, CJ5, any of my Commandos, or even my current FSJ and having tire noise be a concern. Freezing to death, maybe. But not tire noise.

Don't be sad. It is just as much jeep's fault for catering to those who want to emasculate an iconic vehicle as it is those who do the snipping. Of course, without the added sales to those who will never use a jeep as a jeep, jeep would probably be dead, anyway. So I guess we should buck up & take the good with the bad.

Usually, the only waves I get are from the other guys in the local 4x4 clubs. I have gotten the wave back from a TJ and a YJ. I've also had the wave initiated by a CJ and an LJ. I've also gotten some really weird "who the heck are you?" looks from other KJs, but, I still wave to most of the Jeeps I see. And yes they are just as thick up here in WY as they are in CO. Just not as many people on the road so not as much worry about collisions.
