 Dang, I can see why you needed to relocate your washer bottle    You definitely increased your approach angle. Looks Good!

Man, I didn't think the bumper would generate much if any interest because it isn't the ARB or a RL one. Maybe I'll post some pics tonight then...

personally i like it more than the ARB or RL one. i like how it's simple.. and shows all the tires. The big boat anchor bumpers may be better for armor but the smaller ones look better!

but wait till that tree or rock jumps out and grabs the fender or what else Oh its not air bag certified

I agree it looks OK but, no place to sit the tools, beer or women on that bumper

hahahahah very good point in the last line. if i can accommodate a winch that's all i need. and without the extra 7 or 8 inches sticking out in front perhaps the tree or rock could have been avoided? especially on tight corners that extra room could be a BIG help..

I hate big bulky bumpers so this was an easy choice for me to make. I hate anything that is big and bulky that has to do with my Jeep in general. The KJ is a fatty to begin with, no need to make it bigger and heavier. As far as tearing off a fender, that can happen with or without the any aftermarket bumper. You just need to know how to drive. Not worried about keeping it airbag certified either.

I bolted the bumper to the frame using the two existing mounting locations for the tow hooks and then drilled 4 new holes for the top mounting bolts. So in all there are 8 blots holding the bumper on. The crush caps came off and I used that existing hole for my new bolt locations because it lined up pretty much perfectly with the mounting arms of the bumper. Then I put the crush caps back on. Extended the arms approx. 4" above and 6" below with 1/4" steel flatbar and then doubled it up with another piece and welded those together as well. So the arms are now 1/2" instead of 1/4" like they were originally.

I wanted a bumper that was nice and short off the ground as well as side to side. Nothing out there filled this remotely and I was tired of waiting for other stuff to come out. I wanted really good approach angles, tight corners, and I wanted it to be stout enough to handle a beating. Check check and check. I wanted it to have places for aux. lighting, winch capable, and have 2 shackles. Check check and check. All around it was pretty much the perfect option for me. The only reason it wasn't absolutely perfect was that I has to fab the mounts for it.

It's a jeep thing, my levels of perception are sufficient to ascertain your implication

Thanks everybody and since the cat is out of the bag. here is the bumper I used you can see the original mounting arms directing back:

And the stock one hanging sadly:

The horn was moved up and out the way:

The washer bottle gone and fender well lining cut:

had to make space for the drill for the new bolt holes:

and here is the almost final product:

The shackles are now red and the bumper has a fresh coat of gloss black. Still waiting on the turn signals.

I think the only things I would change are welding two down tubes with a piece of sheetmetal between two (prerunner style skid) to act as a skid for the radiator and engine accessories. Secondly bend some thin sheetmetal to extend the gap in the fenders (not flares) near the grill that was left when the OEM bumper came off. What was the bumper off of originally?

OK OK I have been trying to mess with INC and his "little " bumper since he does not like big manly bumpers but mine just saved the front of my Liberty.

Sitting waiting on my wife to come out of a store, a Chev. Trailblazer starts backing out from a parking spot towards where I am parked, guy gets closer and closer and BAM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Yep hits the right front corner of mine,  :x :x :x he pulls away and starts to leave as the manager of the insurance place he was just at comes running out and stops him. I am already out and in front of the dumbazz.
Long story short, His insurance agent seen the whole thing, 8) 8)
he will need a new tailgate, left rear taillight, bumper maybe, and the quarter panel repaired and painted

Now the sad news for the ARB

I had to come home and replace the turn signal housing, ( already had one in my original bumper) some wet sanding, little buffing compound, waxed it and its already to go, can not even tell my big old heavy bumper was even touched now!!

plus I have a check for 432. bucks already , its party time !!!

I love big bumpers and dumb drivers :D :D :D :D :D

So did you sit there and let this guy back into you? Did you honk, move your jeep, anything?

I don't need to prove my manhood by my jeep either Tom, sorry.
