anyone ever had any experience with these? i have been trying to find one for a while and this seems to be the best one i have found. with that being said, it looks a little cheaply made but maybe its just the picture.

thanks. mike

Mine works perfectly. And is almost if not exactly identical to the quadratec one. Towed another jeep with it and have used it in recovery situations and zero weakness - works great.

I painted mine but here it is before paint and after:

I used Krylon. Sanded it, primered it and then painted. It chips when it bashes on the big boulders off road but only in very small spots and it hasn't peeled or chipped more than the spots that get bashed around. I am really happy with it considering the abuse it has taken.

Not to be a jerk, but what is the point of these? I have always just put the strap in the receiver and put the pin through it. Most people on the trails with me do it this way and I can't imagine the pin would break before the strap.

These d rings allow the strap to move in the ring unlike just the pin. The pin is inside the receiver and because of this the strap can kink if pulling from an angle. The d ring lets the strap slide in the ring and keeps the strap straight when pulling from angles.

Works good in a pinch, until you bend the pin. :D

I usually use the pin too but I was thinking the same thing.

As incubusmike said, its better for pulling at a 90 angle. Ive done it myself and meh_kick let me use his shackle, worked great.

I went with the same one. But mine's not as pretty as your's. :(

Oh and, mine got a workout the other day. I learned something too... When you jam the ring (downwards) into the ground (after slippling off into a rut) .... have a pair of pliers handy to loosen the screw.

What would be the value in having shackles on both sides of the rear bumper in addition to the hitch shackle?

I used to have a hook in my Libby's hitch receiver but I kept catching my leg on it as I walked by. The shackle is the better way to go.

Options. You never know what direction and how many folks will need to pull :) Also, if you're towing, you have a ball in there.
