Could I just have the dealer put the riddler back on instead of stock when I change my diff fluid, it is a simple swap. I have free maintenance. But if extra work, like grinding is needed, I'm sure they won't do it or charge me for it. What else do you need for install, new seals?

there shouldnt be any extra work, they would just need to put some RTV on it and bolt it back on just like the stock cover

Yeah...it would be even easier, because you don't have to scrape the old RTV on the stock cover.

Very nice, I’ll have Josh from Crawlertech 4x4 install mine when he does my lockers. Will RL keep a few diff covers on hand? I’ll be coming up for the lift install and I can grab one then. I want to paint mine before the install, especially the “R” and the “skull”!

there is nothing for the D30a and I would be extremely surprised if anything ever came out for it, and you dont need it if you have your front engine skid on

You may not want to have Josh install the Riddler cover, better yet don't even show it/mention it.He owns Crane High Clearance also and is a direct compition with Tim at Riddler(Tim was at one time one of the original Crane owners).

He has D30 covers but it will not fit on the D30A due to one of the D30A mounting brackets prevents it,plus no need for a HD cover on the D30A since the front skid is for that.

It looks good, but is there an option for a drain plug?

Sorry there is not,you can take it up with Tim at Riddler about it though. No need for one though and having one makes it a very big target for getting smashed against a rock and then your SOL when your diff cover will not hold fluid due to a broken drain plug.

I talked to TIM and JOSH about this several months ago. The ARB differentials have magnets that are used in both the drain plug and the dipstick to collect wear particles. Too bad ARB isn’t making one for the KJ, or at least not yet. ARB said they would like to make one for the KJ, but they can’t keep up with the current demand of other (more popular) differentials.

Well I suppose you have a point if you were to hit a rock freakish (just right) but as I was looking at the RuffStuff diff cover, it seems the logical choice would be to recess the plug - or maybe add a collar.

Thanks (for the fyi) just the same.

Just my 2 pennies here but I really do not see the reason for a drain plug.
For me one it may get hit and broken,
it may get stripped out,
PLUS I really want to see what all is going on in there each time I change it out.
I hate it that I can not get into the front diff easier!
Not that hard to take off, and not as messy as changing the oil so no real benefit....well as I see it

Tom

t cool.
Tom

When you run a good oil like Amsoil, and you have a magnetic dip stick and a magnetic drain plug, then there is no reason to pull the pan when you can pull the recessed plug. ARB does it. And everything that ARB does is just cool. 8) And it just makes sense to me, but what do I know, I’m just a school boy.
