I bought my 2006 liberty last year with plans to off-road it. I have been saving up for the last year to start my project. I finally get enough money saved up and in the last month or so my shifter started getting stuck in park. I don't want to have to use my money for my build to get it fixed does anyone have any idea what it maybe? And has anyone else had this happen to them?

You are probbaly pulling up on the shifter and not noticing, It will stick/lock it park if you pull up on it any. Just push it back down and it will move normal. Happens to me at times also.

There might be a problem with your BITSI (brake transmission interlock cable) causing you not to be able to remove the vehicle from park.

Under warranty - let the dealer fix it.

If not under warranty - search the boards for the corrective repair methods

This happened to me as well in my 06. I had it fixed at the dealership under warranty. They said there is a new assembly for it. It hasn't stuck since.
