So, it seems that the KJ only came with a leather steering wheel...am I correct in assuming that? I see no record of it coming with a plastic/vinyl steering wheel.

Is there a way of taking off the stock wheel and putting on a Grant one instead??

According to my window sticker, it was an option with whatever package my KJ came with

I'm sure you could if they make a adapter for the KJ,you'd loose the airbag though.

That's odd it's not even listed on my window sticker. Then again I have never seen a KJ without the same steering wheel in it that I have, granted the airbag cover can be different between the sport and limited models.

Yours is also a Limited though isn't it?

Got a pic of your steering wheel cover? Mine looks like pretty much any other KJ I've seen

Wifes Sport is plastic, mine came w/ the leather cover due to adding the CC option.

I HATE the leather on my Limited steering wheel. I enquired aboutthe plastic wheel , and was quoted $700 at the dealership, I couldn't be bothered...

I may start to look at sport in junkyards...

Time to start an internet search on used steering wheels at "virtual" junk yards. Someone has to have a plastic wheel with cruise switches....

Anyone with a pic of the plastic wheel? I've never seen it and didn't know they came in anything but the leather.

I think that's the problem. Anytime you get the cruise control option, you automatically get the leather steering wheel.

If you have Cruise Control, you have the leather steering wheel. Personally I don't like the vinyl/foam wheel... it's not as grippy to me.

Just saw a Grant ad... They say they have airbag compatible models.

Update: Forget it! None for Jeep at all though I did send them an email.

The cruise control switches are held on with 2 screws. They are completely separate from the steering wheel.

The switches don't have to be there, as I can use mine. I would think there would be some wiring in the wheel I would need.

Now, I also pose this question...would a wheel from a TJ fit the KJ? Anyone try this?

if u got cruise control, then u got a leather steering wheel, if u got a leather steering wheel with no cruise control then u paid $150. the leather steering wheel group as chrysler calls it came with cruise control and on some models it is a stand alone option... not sure about the kj
