It's a heat issue for the front diff, very little airflow and not very much fluid capicity leads to gear oil break down faster.Plus fresh fluid helps with mpg's you CRD guys are always hunting for,why I don't now why since you own a Jeep.

The same can be said about your KJ. Why not own a different Jeep if you're searching for more and more off-road ability? Different strokes I guess.

I don't need another Jeep for offroad since any Jeep needs to be built up($$$$$$) to go offroad where I go so it really doesn't matter what Jeep I have since it will all cost the same anyways, just the parts for the KJ needs to be custom made instead of being bought.Plus the TJ is kinda lame to me,just like diesel's,just no fun at all and no imagination needed to make power or mod.

For what I want my Jeep to have on it,as far as mods,it will not cost one cent more if I owned a TJ or a KJ,both would cost the same to mod just no effort needed for the TJ,which again is kinda lame,to easy.

Life is hard enough as it is, I say enjoy the easy things when they come by. Making power might be easier on a diesel, sure. Just add more air and fuel, until the heads go boom. But getting that power OUT to the wheels is where the fun begins on the CRD.

Only because there is less power to worry about on the gasser. When you have a more Manly engine... You need a more manly drivetrain to handle the raw power. ;)

About 500 less than a 545RFE.

I second that, with my 50MPG TDI ;)

Oh why can't I leave this Jeep forum it makes me miss the KJ so much sometimes!! (not sarcastic)

All those people describing they went from a TDI to a KJ ... while I went the other way...

Getting back to the original post, is it a Jeep thing to have a noisy ,whiney rear diff then.

Remember, i'm on my second diff already so i'm a bit touchy when it comes to noisy and moaning diffs.......

I'm also sensitive to the gassers ( Patooie ) not bad for a South African hey, to change my diff oil too regularly otherwise us diesel blokes
are accused of changing our diff oil as often as the gassers  change their engine oil :)

I guess i'll just go and change the diff oil this weekend and blame someone on the forum next week if it doesn't solve the diff noise and then
if i'm asked what the noise is by anybody i'll just tell them " it's a Jeep thing"

Uffe, after the joys (VERY sarcastic) I have been having wrenching on my OTHER Jeep yesterday and today to re-start a journey of bad design... I'm wondering why I didn't go for the VW Touareg TDI.

I liked the mileage from my Jetta, I loved the power from the Touareg TDI that I test drove... Its the thought of that V10 engine and the "look at me, I gots a bigger pe... MOTOR than everbuddy else!" that turned me off. That, and the insane $50k they wanted for a USED truck that I found out later had been rolled and totaled.

Why oh why won't they bring the 5-cyl TDI Touareg here?
