I'm looking for opinions on the following tires that I've been researching (they'll be going on an un-lifted 2005). They need to be able to handle midwestern snow and ice storms, heavy rains, and be respectable in the mud - and decent tread wear would be nice too

(not listed in any particular order)
Wrangler Silent Armor
Dueler AT Revo
General Grabber AT2
Destination AT

Any recommendations would be appreciated, along with some reviews!

I had the Destination ATs on for about two years and over 32000 miles, they had about half tread left when I went bigger, no noise at all very quiet out on the road, also was 1000 times better than the stock tires, they rode good, did great in snow, plowed through 3 to 4 foot drifts and never hardly spun a wheel, did as good as any tire could on pure ice. Did well on rail slick roads as well. I like them a lot, but wanted something bigger and different.
Would I buy them again, yes if I wanted a pure AT tire, for the price they are hard to beat

Tom

Tommudd - How'd they do off road? I know they'll never be up to par with dedicated off-road tires, but did they do alright for the most part?

I have the Firestone Dest AT and they do pretty good off road. I went offroad in URE when it was wet so red slick clay all over the place and with a little momentum I was able to keep up with the guys with MTR's on.

I have no exp with snow.

Destination A/T. Very limited use off road so far, but in rain and the crap snow we get, they are great. If I were not looking to upgrade to the Firestone Destination M/T, I would buy them again. These tires are almost new and they will be going on my mother's KJ if / when I get the Destination M/Ts.

I've had the 245/65R17 Destination AT's before the lift, and 245/75R16 Silent Armors after the lift. The Destinations did a good job through rain, snow, ice storms, etc, but the Silent Armors have been better in all these conditions. The Destinations were slightly quiter on the road. They were also less expensive than the SA's. I haven't had the Revos or Grabbers so I can't comment on them.

Have the Destinations (255/70/16) for about 6 months or so and so far they work great for what I need them for. I don't wheel like some on here do, but I take the KJ out on our road construction jobs and other job sites and so far gone through anything I've come upon. (mud, deep sand, snow, ice). Also put some on the wife's Ford Escape (235/70/16) and they do great on it too.

General Grabbers work great for me. The price is good too. As far as midwestern snow, they chew through it very aggressively, ice isn't great but they are studdable (spelling?) I would highly recommend them.

BTW, Desinations and Revos are both made by the same compamy (Bridgetsone owns Firestone) using the same technology. The only real difference that I can see is the tread design. Even though the Revos have been around a lot longer than the Destinations, the Tire Rack survey results for the Destinations seem to be a little bit better than the Revo survey results. Maybe they learned from the feedback on the Revo's and put that into the Destinations.

I dont know about snow ,southern boy, but I know rain and as much as I hate it I know mud
I have now the AT revos on my F250 ,265/75 R 16, they are a great road tire and it looks like I will get 45-50K out of them
which under a truck that weighs in daily at 8500# and has seen 10,000# more than a few times that is not to bad
they suck at every thing else ,give a great "lawn job" but not really get you through any thing beyond wet grass
We had the Goodyear AT/S's on the KJ a little while back ,they are no longer in production but were replaced by the SA's you are looking at
The SA's are not quite as aggressive as the AT/S's were and the AT/S's did great on the road but I would be hard pressed to call them fair in the mud They also did not last long at all ,only 40K if that, we will get longer life out of the MTR's
Now the size was 225/75 R16 which is a C load tire not an E load like the MTR
If I were in the market today right now for tires for the KJ ,knowing what we do with it I would go for the BFG AT
Not quite what I want but the KJ sees little to no off road use right now ,baby which has cut my trail time in 1/2
and I have a TJ so when I ride I am looking for the "good stuff"

for a pavement pounder, go with the Revos. there is a reason more expensive tires are more expensive...depending on what you get. I had the Dueler AT (not Revos) on my Trooper for a while...great wearing tire...replaced them with Dueler MT's, partially because of the lack of traction, partially because of them not wearing out, and i get bored with tires

if you go off road, though, you will be BLOWN AWAY at the traction advantage of an MT over an AT.

Jason, I haven't looked too much into the size...but in a 225/75-16, most MT's are a D LR, but some are E. is the MT/R a C?
