What is the make and model number of the front hitch that was available awhile back but is discontinued now please?

What is available now?

Will a 2002 front end hitch fit a 2005 or vice versa?

I did a search for front hitches and only got 1834 hits

As far as I know, yes, the 02-4 front hitch will fit the 05-7s. I have the hitch Landy made the run of which was modeled after the '05-7 models, and mine fit nicely, but I had to hack the holes in my bumper just a bit.

You can kinda see where the loops come off the bottom of the hitch, and I had to cut a bit to clear those holes. it's not noticeable to anybody but me for the most part though, so I've been lazy in taking the dremel to clean the holes up.

i have the CURT hitch for a YJ/TJ on mine. fit real nice but i had to drill a hole on each side for the 2nd bolt in the hitch.

i hacked the crap outta my bumper, but its mine, i can do that. if you can get this one, you are gonna need to do somewhat of a hack job to make it fit. unless you put some kinda spacers on it to drop it down a little.

Thanks for all the replies so far!!

Blue KJ, what year is your KJ and did you have to drill or make any mods to fit that Draw Tite model no 65042 onto your KJ?

What model years is this 65042 good for? All KJ models?

I tried to google it but since it has been discontinued, little info on this...

Thanks!!!

I have an 03 KJ, only drilling to mount the Drawtite 65042 was to add the third hole on each side (I forget the Reese number...I'll look for it). Then I used a very long screw driver that I taped the bolts onto and guided them into the holes.

I timmed the bumper cover only for looks. I don't remember who it was but there was a later year KJ that need a little trimming where the receiver sits.

As a part of the Draw-tite, Reese, Hidden Hitch "harmonization" the paren company, I believe it is Cequent, decided to eliminate the Draw-tite and Reese front hitch for the KJ.

Edit: Reese number for the front hitch was Reese 13542
Edit 2: Hidden Hitch part number was HH7-5024 (but this was a 2 piece hitch)

the front hitch was discontinued so you will have to try and find a used one or do what Rangerd77 did

That or constantly monitor for sale board here and craigslist/ebay...If I sell my extra car and get a CJ or YJ to replace it, I just might sell my front hitch.

So with the Drawtite 65042 which was supposed to be designed for the KJ still needs drilling to install. Was this the best model to try and find used?

How much were these new?

Blue, why would you sell yours if you got another car especially if they are no longer in production?

Hidden Hitch 5024 (two-piece) on my '05... no extra drilling, just have to trim the bumper where the receiver sticks out, also lies behind the front license plate holder if you have one, I relocated mine.

The Drawtite/Reese uses 3 hole on each side...2 are already there on each side so if you want it to be as strong as possible you have to drill the third hole on each side...if you wanted you could leave that off I guess. If I do get myself a CJ or YJ I'll be wheel it rather than the KJ so I might sell off the front hitch to pay for CJ/YJ upgrades.

I'm not a huge fan of that. No loops. I like loops.

he is talking about the loops where you hook your safety chains to when you tow, its not something you necessarily need on a front hitch but it is nice to have
