Anyone else have this issue? To me, the driver's seat (at least) in my Liberty sits too high. I have to lean forward at many traffic lights just to be able to see them, and it is a rare occasion indeed when I need to use the sun visor. When I do use it, well...forget about seeing anything.

I have the heated leather seats, and I'm only 6'2" tall. And yes, I *have* adjusted them down as far as the electric adjusters will go. I didn't really notice this on test drives, only after driving it for awhile.

I'm wondering if the mount brackets for these seats are different than for other seats? I've looked, and it appears to me that if I fabbed up some replacements I could lower the seat by 1" or a little more, which would help. But if there is a set of brackets already made, it would be nice...

I think they sit kind of high also. I've been thinking about cutting them down once I get my self a new welder. Would be nice if there was a bolt in solution.

this solves the heated issue

http://www.4wd.com/newsite/shop/product ... p?pid=S225

you can add it to any seat to make them heated

Im 6'2" and my biggest problem is seeing past the rear-view mirror. I am constantly looking around it!!

And would i be able to add those heat pads to my stock sport cloth seats w/o anything burning?

renegade leather not heated and 5'10" and the seats are too high (my one gripe). front is OK all the way down but wish the back would go down more, i like to recline a bit rather than sitting flat.

buddy is a welder and has equipment at home, maybe i will look into this idea

Limited, leather, bun-warmers, 6'0" tall, and I think they're high too. The mounts are enormous! Cracked me up when I bought it. They're giant! I couldn't agree more about the front going low enough, but the back not doing so. Full down makes me feel like I'm falling forward out of the seat. I've found that the only way to get comfortable in that nose-down position is to just lean my forehead on the windsheild  (this also eliminates the problem of looking around the rearview mirror). I fear the airbag impact though.

Those replacement racing seats look nice! Add the bun-warmers and those would be a nice addition. But I think you'd still have to shave the mounts down. And I'd lose my power adjustments, so I'll probably pass. BTW, my 2001 Jetta had cloth seats and one of the best (most coverage) seats heaters I've ever used. Adding heaters to your Liberty cloths shouldn't be a problem (but check the manufacturer's application chart, just in case).

For now, I put strapping at the front of the caverns that are created by the front seat mounts and I store things in there. Kinda handy since the owner's manual doesn't fit in the little glove box. Owner's manual, two BIG CD cases, and a flashlight fit under the passenger's seat and I put a bag of dog food under the driver's seat once and there was room to spare. I might feel like I'm sitting low if I changed it now...I'd definitely be losing some storage space.

Myke.....

Ive been wanting to get those seats for a long time but my problem is that they might sit too low and take away your vision....I posted a thread a while ago asking if anyone had done the conversion but no positive replies. Many want to do it but do not have the guts yet...I am only a click away from buying them.....just waiting to see someone else whos done it and to hear about the changes the conversion makes to the driving experience............
Keep us updated if you take the dive!

Hmmm...this is an interesting thread.

I'm 6'4" and I've always thought the seats are too LOW. When I sit in my KJ, the back of my legs won't even rest evenly on the seat cushion. Instead, my knees stick up toward the steering wheel. It's VERY annoying. I wish I had gotten the electric seats now. Those were on a rental KJ I had from the airport once and I fell in love. I could tilt the seat back and it was more comfy.

For me, these stock seats are way too LOW. I wish they were higher, would be more comfy for the tall guys. I have no head room issues at all. All issues are with leg room for me.

ditto.. 6'4" here.. i went without leather.. i got tons of dogs so didnt want it to get messed up.. i rode in my friends and the leather seats weren't all that.. i test drove 3 liberties b4 i ordered mine.. all had leather seats.. i didnt like them either.. the one prob i have w/the reg seats is the back support suxs.. my old car had lumbar support/etc.. much better then the stock seats.. if someone finds an alternative that works perfect this might be something i would look into.. only prob i have ever had with cars is leg room :)

I see your point(s) about the seats seeming too short due to the "back of my legs won't even rest evenly on the seat cushion" issue. I've been blaming that on the relatively shallow footwell. I think it's that design that makes us think we're leaning forward in the seat when the front and back (power seats) are both all the way down. I lift the front of my seat up in order for it to hit the backs (bottoms?) of my legs while I'm driving. I can imagine the absence of that ability would be pretty irritating. What about "lifting" the front mounts with thick metal spacers??

The owners manual does fit into the glove box. There is a slot right under the handle when you open the glove box. it fits in there. Just hard to find that slot. Tell me if you cant find it and ill take a pic for ya.

Well, the outer one is large, yes. But the inner ones aren't very large...and the transmission tunnel is the thing that keeps the seat from being able to be lowered much more. As I said, it looks to me like it would take a fair amount of work to get it down 1"-1.5". Still, I think it might be worth it.

I'm tall and hate the seats. I wish I could raise mine but that idea of using spacers might compromise the original safety equipment specs for the driver. Not sure if I want to do that to get another 1" of height out of the seat or not.

I am surprised to see so many tall KJ drivers I have an 04 Renny and when my 6'1'' husband drives or rides in it he's smooshed! I am 5'1" and have no seat problems , I do however have no use for the sunvisor ( too short! )

I love the height of my driver's seat. Let's me 'lord it' over the other drivers! As for trafiic lights, in the UK we have 'repeater' lights that are usually on the other side of the intersection and about 10' high!

Agreed. Traffic lights in UK are way better laid out. Plus over here we don't get the Get Ready amber. :)

I also hate the seats in my KJ. Im 6'3" so not a giant but no shorty either and they are just waaaay too high. I'm always trying to dig myself deeper. The bottom of the seat is also too short. Not enough support towards the back of the knee....
Its been nice driving my rental car these past two weeks while my Jeep gets repaired from the accident ( http://www.lostjeeps.com/forum/phpBB3/vie ... php?t=4124 ) . Seat is much more comfortable than the KJ...
