What would be a better idea?
Get a renegade or get a sport and some acessories ( frankenlift, moabs, new lbjs, Upgraded uca arms)
I would upgrade both eventually but the renegade would go alot slower, what advantages does the renegade have other then visual effects?
also i have 10.000 to spend now so the renegade may be out of my range, im not looking for a serious offroader just some nj beacher and some fun offroading

Really depends on how it was ordered from the factory, a Sport may have just about as much stuff on it as a renegade except for the regular Renegade things

If you "gotta have" the light bar and different looking flares And you don't want to bother w/ installing those after purchase, buy the Rene up front. Otherwise those are just cosmetic upgrades you can do later (yes the lightbar does work so it is functional cosmetics). Otherwise just pick your color and buy whatever model you can get cheapest since you Will be wanting to upgrade as you go along regardless of what you say now.....The Jeepthing gets into your blood and makes you crazy ya know?

Shoot for stuff you know you will want up front and the rest will work istelf out eventually.

depends on what you want to do BUT if it came with
skid plates
tow points
and some kind of upgraded tires it would be great!

*factory options* and im in sj so it would be quite a drive. I dont like whiteanyways, thanks tho. Also how does the kj compare to the older gen xterra, that is the one of the other major cars is my decision. I am not sure if the lberty is right however. DOign the the mods would be expensive since im not very mechanical savy mself. Somthing mroe agressive stock may be right for me. Perhaps a fx4 f150? Im not really sure what i want right now. I like to think ill offroad often but i doupt it. However i would like the ability to. Mainly it would be beaching. Try to limit bias please. Lastly does anyone have pictures of a sport with a lift on moabs?

If your not into wheeling then just get any SUV with the right MPGs and the right price tag. Trucks generally suck in the sand because they are so light in the rear. If you wanna off road, a jeep is he way to go, if not then anything will do.

a buddy of mine has an Xterra with larger tires and it's worthless compared to even a stock KJ with the stock tires. For a beach/daily driver, you really can't go wrong with a Liberty, unless you just can't live with the mileage. Now, if you're gonna hit tougher trails, I'd have different advice, completely.

yes the liberty does sound lik the best choice, the reliability is alittle bit questionable but that seems to be able to be fixed. I think the renegade is best then ill have less of a temptation to mod it for awhile. The only option with better mileage is the escape which has nearly no offroad capabilities.

The nice thing about the Liberty is that it is actually very reliable. The few things that do go wrong with it are simple to fix and parts are cheap. The best thing is that there is always someone here to help you fix it and keep it running, so you are less likely to get taken advantage of when you do need to get it worked on.

Down the road, when you modify stuff, the people in your local LOST chapter are usually willing to lend a hand and help you do it yourself. You save money on mods that way and you learn how to maintain your own vehicle-- saving you more money.

I don't wanna come off as a jerk or anything, but sit down and seriously ask yourself what will the vehicle be used for. If you wanna take it out occasionally on a dirt road or some sand, any AWD or 4WD vehicle will do. I am a certified Jeep fanatic, but since my wife's next vehicle won't be seeing the trails, but still needs to be AWD, get good MPGs and seat 5, we are getting a WRX. While I'd love to get her a Jeep and ad another one to the list of the many Jeeps I've owned, there are other vehicles, the WRX especially, that fits her needs better than any Jeep could. Please don't get me wrong, I love my KJ and the next vehicle I get for me will be a Jeep(or a 66-77 box broncoImage)

That said, if you want the Jeep get the friggin Jeep. You're paying for it, you have to drive it everyday, you have to look at it in your garage or parking spot and if you think you'll regret not buying it or if you can't see that spot filled with anything but a Jeep, well then welcome to your support group.

MY point is: you want a vehicle you don't want to modify.........
Look around. You are asking a group of addicts.
I'll bet there isn't a member here that hasn't made at least one mod that they weren't sure they could afford.

:-)r :-)r :-)r

I had to use my stock '05 sport to pull my brother and his Xterra out of his stuck. My brother was soooo embarrassed that his sister in her "girly" (according to him) Jeep had to save him in front of his friends. It was priceless! They all looked at the Liberty like  I can't believe it just did that!
