No he has one on now, but not before.
I am on the fence on this one, but I do have one on mine just in case it does work. It could go either way if you get enough torque on it I am sure

Kaman Alum front diff collar: p/n 8A309.

A few weeks back I contacted someone at Kaman who one week later replied saying I should find local distributor's in my area from their web site. I thought to myself, yeah, thanks for that info.

Anyway, Fastenal was said to be a distributor however I haven't tried contacting them. To be honest, I lost interest with other planned projects. If you should contact them, let me know what they tell you. Thanks.

i found the measurements of it and had a local machinist make mine. i think i have all of $30 in it. very cheap insurance.. and a peace of mind like someone above said. i do not think anyone who has one on their KJ has blown the front diff. (knock on wood)

I would be more cautious w/o one and more agressive with one....I have one sitting in my garage (over a year now) and have not put it on yet. I need to grind it out some. I guess I have been lazy lately.

That was pretty much the same response I got when I talked to Kaman and Fastenal. There was a place mentioned from a group buy last year(?), I just have to do a search for the thread. One person mentioned that if you mention LOST you mught be able to get a collar from them. I am not sure if they were custom made, or if they are a supplier.

Wait - What did Fastenal tell you?

I was under the impression that group buy was through someone at Kamen? Regardless, the rep from Kamen stated they do not sell to the public.

I have not heard of anyone blowing their diff when they had a diff collar installed.

I talked to Fastenal in Canada, gave them the Stafford Manufactiring part number, and was then told that Fastenal does not carry that part and cannot get it. The Stafford part number is 8L309 if anybody has access to Stafford. Kaman carries the part, they do not make it. Fastenal in the US may have this, but up here they do not carry one.

I then talked to PTM who is the Canadian distributor for Kaman. I was told that Kaman does not sell directly to the public, but was given a local distributor. Called the local distributor and was told that the collar was going to run me around $120 Canadian plus taxes.

I called Kaman in the US, talked to somebody in national sales and got a similar response about not selling to the public, but was told that if I left my name and number, somebody would get back to me with a local (Washington State) distributor. Two weeks later and no call.

I have no problem driving down to Washington Sate to pick one of these up, I just want to know where I can get one so I am not wasting hours of my time driving around.

Does that collar bolt right up or is some modification required? I can get 1 but it is $126 CDN plus tax and will take 3-4 weeks to get in.

The collar goes around the tail end of the front differential where the driveshaft goes in. You just tighten up the hex head bolt on the outside of the collar and you are done. If you have a diesel, you will need the steel collar because the alumium collar is a little too large. Some people have had to shave off some metal from the collar to get it to fit because the differential cases are not precision made. Others have just had to rotate the collar to get it to fit.
