The time for a lift has come.

I was thinking about a frankie, but it is so darn expensive. I don't need anything too fancy. All my buddies have good things to say about Skyjacker. The price is right, it looks cool and the reviews look good.

Is this a good lift? http://www.quadratec.com/products/76117_850.htm

I am a bit of a newbie when it comes to this stuff. Does it have everything I will need to run 265's? I am afraid I will order this thing, then get half way through the installation and realize I am missing a component. Like upgraded A-arms or something.

Also, what in the hell are rear isolators? what do they do? Google failed me. This guy the other day said he had "rear isolators" on his liberty and it made me wonder. Especially since he made it a point to tell me about it. I didn't ask.

IIRC the Skyjacker springs now are the same rate as stock, check with tjkj, his were the original and stronger ones
isolater are simply spring pads, you have one top and bottom now, some add an extra one to add heighth
I will not even go into why you want Skyjacker, the OMEs are just as cheap and better

But someone will say something if I say anything else

I'll say it - for ~$700 - you can get a full OME lift - you could probably do a bit better with OME springs and Ranchos struts/shocks.

All J's
springs ~$150/pair - $300
front Ranchos $85/each $170
rear Ranchos $65/each $130

$600 - add some more for Bumpstops

http://www.boulderbars.com/kjproducts.htm

Quinn and Heather know a lot more about KJ's than any of the Quadratec folks. - lots of great advise.

(Okay I may be negative about Skyjacker - I've never run them - I have OME and it's great)

It’s sad when Reverend Tommudd speaks the truth and then someone questions the church. Ministry is a tough job Tom, but sometimes you have to overlook those who don’t want to listen to the truth.

It isn't what is said, but how it is said that is some times a problem.

well I will be blunt and rude
Dont waste your money
I had skycrapper stuff on my TJ ,there LCA's cost me money and head aches
the shocks are shot at only 15K the springs are doing ok but they will be replaced soon also

Now I do not have their stuff on the KJ because of the issues with the TJ
I decided shortly after the LCA issue that you get what you pay for
We have OME/Rancho on the KJ and it is great
Twice the milage as the skycrapper and still riding great
Now the TJ is an off road toy but still the shocks should have gone longer

I was told by tjkj that the skyjacker springs are the same rate as rusty's about 300lbs not sure of that is the same as stock.

I think if I remember right stock and Rustys are 310 lb for comparision
OME Light Duty 350, Medium Duty 375 and Heavy Duty 400. At first Skyjacker went with a heavier spring then after a short time changed to the lower rate spring for a pillow soft ride (I guess)

ok, so the soft ride are the same as stock. Which is what they make now, I actually have a set sitting in my garage that I picked up from tjkj on the cheap over a year ago.

Yeah, I have been thinking about upgrading to them. I was told that only skyjacker struts will work with them. So I don't have many options.

the coil will not sit right on the perch of the strut. TJKJ said he had to cut a small bit off the coil to run with a different strut. If I decide to use the springs I will just pick up the skyjacker struts and test them out.

The SkyJacker coils are made to use only the SkyJacker struts, the bottom of the coil is flat, thus eliminating the lower coil isolator.I had to cut about 3/4 of the bottom coil to be able to use the Rancho strut, made up the lost hieght with a cut down Rusty's 3/4" poly spacer(cut about 3/4" off of it).

The first 6 months of prodution of the SkyJacker lifts got the HD coils which netted 3 3/4" of total lift. That much lift in turn killed many UBJ's and SkyJacker got many complaints so they switched the coils to the "softride" coils(OEM rates) to give just right at 2.5" of lift.

I had a SkyJacker strut come apart on me while doing 75mph,scared the living sh$t out of me.4WheelParts took care of me and next day aired a complete new front Skyjacker lift, when I put them on and lowered my KJ off the jack stands it sank to were the front tires were touching the flares.Well it got ripped apart again and the old coils went back on and have been holding up my KJ for almost 50,000miles with only about a 1/4" of sag from whn I added the ARB front bumber and winch(did a clevis lift to gain it back, have not lost any since).

Spoke to Marlin and not a problem with the top plate. So I ordered a set of struts from JeepinbyAl. When they arrive I will get to work with the soft ride coils and a clevis lift. That should net me 3" which is half an inch more then I have now. The Skyjacker bumpstops that I have should be enough for the clevis lift. We see.

To the originator of this post, OME from what I hear is great can't go wrong. If you are still curious about Skyjacker I can provide some feedback in a month or 2...
