I have an 06 and i would love to take the lid of the center console off and put one on off a older liberty. I would like to do this because you can not fit two drinks in the cup holder at once without knocking the lid off one of the drinks. Ive seen in pics on here that the older kjs have a rounded back tops. So can it be done.

and

Does anyone else hate this about the newer kjs or am i just a loser.

Hey that is mine!

And by the way, I would love a fix for that rear cup holder too. It is pretty much useless unless you are carrying a kid-sized drink in it.

Rear cup holder? You mean the ones in the rear doors?

my 05 has the switches infront of the cup holders, which are not the same size.... back one is much bigger than the front one.

No. I mean the rear cup holder in the front seat. The one closest to the console is useless because of the console lid. I guess that is on 06-07 models.

The only thing I hate about the cup holder on my '02(same as above) is my lighter keeps falling out of the big slit on the passenger side of the rear cup holder(not shown in pic above).       I mean who brings a actual coffee cup with them and drive with it? You'd have to be a idiot since it will spill all over the place.

It sucks digging under the passenger seat to find it  !

This is how I dealt with the problem.

My son and I eat fast food alot and we got tired of not being able to fit two big drinks in there. This is a stainless steel marine cup holder. It works great, but catches your knee when open and getting back in if you don't remember its there.

Sometimes I have a bottle of water in it :D . . . sometimes

I would like the arm rest to be higher and extend further towards the front so it's like a real arm rest.

I got sick of the entire '05-'07 console too.
So what did I do?
Bought one of the '02-'04 consoles off of eBay. Cleaned up the coffee stains and it looked better than the one I got rid of! :D Take out a few screws, it's in and out in about 15 minutes.

hold up.... the 02-04 console will bolt up to the 05 model?.. will the window switches bolt up ok or do you have to extend the wire harness to make them work since they are in a different location????
