I don't think he is in Virginia yet, I think he is still across the pond for a couple more weeks.

Here is is still about 75 cents above gas, 3.75 or so.

I haven't been out yet today but will check prices near me at 19th Ave and T-bird. The stations near me are usually close to the lowest in Phoenix other than the stations near I-10 and 51st Ave. Yesterday the Gas and Food Martat 19th & Cactus was $3.35, rug was $3.23.

Just checked http://www.phoenixgasprices.com/index.aspx?fuel=D and diesel is $3.25 but appears that the Arco you saw is least expensive in town.

Best prices near me is 3.81 today. Saturday I will be traveling across country from Delaware to NW Washington and usually get the best and the worst of it on the way. I'm going to pull a 3.000 lbs trailer so it will cost me. Then after Halloween's witching hour I will be doing the same thing in reverse. Can someone lend me their debit/credit card for a month?

In the UK, I'm paying (at current exchange rate) $7.70 for the equalvalent of one of your US gallons.

The most I have paid is $8.32.

I am now looking for a job in the USA

Chevron is $3.39 in Wilsonville, Oregon.

BTW, Oregon is one of two states with no self-service gasoline (self-service diesel is legal, but most "attendants" don't know the law, and will tell you that they must pump it). Every year or so, the oil companies fund an initiative to repeal the no self-service law. They always stress that Oregon motorists pay more for no self-service. In fact, prices are usually higher in Washington and California where there is self-service.

NJ has the no self serve law too. I have met some very interesting characters who pump fuel at these stations. In PR they will demand a tip if they pump your fuel.

It's interesting that most people feel obligated to contribute to the 'baristas' tip jar at Starbucks or other coffee emporiums for pumping caffeine, but the guy or gal who braves the elements to pump fuel never expects any tip.

In Japan pump jockeys will grab your floor mats and run them through a washer while your tank is filling. After your tank is filled, they will go out into the road and stop traffic so that you may enter the flow. They will then bow to the stopped motorists to thank them for the inconvenience. BTW, it is customary in Japan to turn off your headlights when stopped behind another car at a traffic signal so that the headlight glare doesn't annoy the driver of the car in front.
