I still have the original Mopar battery in mine and it is still working fine and the connections are clean. No problems with it.

That said, when it even starts to give me any grief, I will replace it with an Optima.

My 04 battery is still going strong, took it out of the Liberty a month ago when I got a "deal" on a Optima and then stuck in another Jeep of my buddies, over 4 1/2 years old and 110,000 miles and "still going" Better than the bunny almost

That's a Optima knockoff there, just like other company's have started doing after Optima's proven worth.

I'm thinking about getting the orbital. The optima has no dealer in my area. Has anyone hooked up 2 batteries in their jeep? I was thinking of keeping the old one to run accessories. My battery is the original as far as i know. It has worked fine up until 3 months ago. It goes dead easier now. And, once i had an issue with shorting out and the kj would not start. And the other time i shut it off while in line at a drive thru and it would not start - no power for a couple of minutes. I'm not sure if the battery is causing that issue but I don't want that happening out on the trail so a new battery is on my wish list.

Sounds like your battery is failing. I've been through it twice with the factory Mopar batteries. The terminals start corroding badly, and then all of a sudden it won't start anymore. No power to anything other than that clicking sound coming from the rear for a few minutes. Then you can turn it to on, and electronics work, but if you try to start it again the cycle starts over. Repacing the battery typically fixes it. Happened to me while filling up a few weeks ago. An employee of the parts store next door jumped it with a battery to get it out of the gas station, and installed a Red Top for me, so it really was a pretty conveniet place to break down. The time before that was in my driveway and I had to get a neighbor to jump it.

Thanks. I went to Canadian Tire and the guy there said they don't carry the orbital there anymore even though it is on their website and to try costco. I hope costco carries the optima or orbital. i think they carry optima in the states but not sure about here though. I was thinking if i could get an optima i would go with a yellow top because they are supposed to be better for winches.
