Good thing for me I can't afford the gas to drive fast on highways...I stick to the curvy side roads and keep me tire inflated to save the oil...save the earth...

eeeh...you're kinda in the wrong car for that....get a Prius? lol :D

If I cared about gas milage I would not have the KJ much less drive it... ...my 20 year old 1988 Olds 98 Delta Regency Brougham ( gotta luv the GM thinking when it came to car names back in the day)... the back-up car gets almost double the mpg this KJ gets.

I often taunt the "save the world, eco girl" we have in the office here by using the line from "Wasting the gas your hybrid saves"...except I say Honda since she doesn't have the hybrid. She can't complain too much though since I have pulled her car out of snowbanks with my KJ... 8)

The air dam is functional.

The trans cooler is toward the bottom of the vehicle right next to it. I took mine off and my trans temp went up 20 degrees at cruise after it was removed. Having a real trans temp gauge helps you notice these little things. Another CRD in AZ noticed his overheating while going up hills on the highway after he removed it (not before).

The Run cool hood louvers and an extra trans cooler are in the works... as is a better bumper eventually. I may trim the fenders off the cutoff fender/air dam combo and bolt the dam portion back under the vehicle when driving around as a temp solution. It will be kinda stubby, however.

Try adding the cheapo $4 CAI mod, that should lower underhood temps.

Actually, that "ram air effect" won't make much of a difference regarding engine compartment temps. What will make a difference, would be either or, hood vents and an electric fan in front of the radiator.

The CRD airbox comes like that stock, but as mentioned I don't see how it would affect under bonnet temps anyway.

Yeah...but it should lower the engine temp. :) Hood louvers would help with underhood temps.

How do you figure it will help lower engine temp? On a CRD the air is passed through a very hot turbo charger...

On a side note, with that air intake mod you'd better not drive when it's raining. Or drive through deep water....
