Hmmm, I thought I was never buying another GM product...if it happens they should kill Buick, maybe Pontiac and keep Jeep as a division at least.

Sure...afterall they are just rebadged chevys and Hummer is the poster child for the Greenies attack of Gas hogs...Jeep still get a little more of the kinder, gentler sort of enviro friendly tag.

I think the world would be fine without Chrysler. Jeep would survive as a buick maybe...

True. It killed me to buy my Jeep during the German era.

I remember when Cerberus Capital was picking up Chrysler, many people said they were only doing it to re-sell it in the future. Looks to be true.

Cerberus is an investment group, thats what they do. They either buy up companies or start up companies try to build them up and sell them for the highest price. Its how they make money.

Some web chat has this as a done deal, to be announced by 11/1/08:

Cerebus trades Chrysler/Dodge to GM for 49% of outstanding GMAC stock. GM loots Chryco & kills it.

Renault buys Jeep from Cerebus.

I bought one foreign jeep when I got the KJ. I will not by a French car, if Renault gets their hands on Jeep again.
