Had the same thing happen, came down hard on both my bars at the culvert at Badlands. Didn't bend the bars a lot, but enough to have the doors catch the plastic trim at the bottom of the door

I fixed it by loosening all the bolts on the bars and then having someone stand on the bars while I tightened them up again. There was enough play in the mounting holes to give me about 3/16th more clearance.

Yep thats what happened, rails moved just enough to catch the plastic.

I think I'm going to get the welder out and weld the holes up that the clips push into and spray some spray in bed liner on the rockers.

I didnt even realize how foul mouthed I was at the tiem utnil watching this video. I get a kick out of how much of an idiot I make myself look.

So who's sliders do you have?

Granted I have a '02 and that plastic rocker trim is no issue for me but I have slammed down so hard on just the outer bar of my RL Super Skinks that the builder himself(he was riding shotgun) told me to stop cause he thought I broke the rail,all 5500lbs of my KJ came crashing down on the forward right part of the outer bar after sliding off a rock which dropped me about 18" or so.I didn't break it just put a very slight bend in the outer tube and very small dent(need to really look to even see).Otherwise the RL sliders didn't budge one bit.I'm not bragging either but a overkill mounting system is a little more important then the outer rail strength,granted the outer rail needs to be strong but the strongest rail is useless without a very strong mounting system.

I am running rocky roads sliders with the extra bar option. I have a little bit of movment in the passanger side, I probably need to tighten them up, I havent checked the bolts since I installed them in april. I regularly use them to pivot around tree's and I am always coming down hard on them on rocks, logs, ect.. I even used them to drag the jeep sideways away from a tree one time.
If it wasnt for these sliders I'd not have a rocker or a lower door left on this thing.

I was looking at the RL site the other day, they didnt have the sliders in production yet when I bought these. I see now they do. I see they are also cheaper than the RR ones.

Its quite obvious that the RL have a stiffer mounting system.

I have a set from RRO's. Outer rail made from 2" hitch mount stock, two support rails from the unibody rail to the outer rail, I think made from 3/4 inch square tube, another 3/4 inch square tube up against the pinch weld. The only thing that bent sightly was the 3/4 support tubes. I've come down hard on the whole length of the outer rail, not going to bend them, but another support may have prevented any bending.

If I was going to replace them, I'd add more support like RL and AllJ's bars have. I'm very impressed with how well these have taken abuse. Saved me thousands in body damage.

I've thought about removing the plastic molding as well, its pretty useless. It would be great if we could just remove the rocker plastic pieces and replace the fender flares with ones from 02-04 KJ's. I'm learning to weld, so closing up the holes may be one of my first body projects.

They been in production for the last few years,RL just has been really not taking orders lately due to trying to get caught up on current orders and designing new products.

I think RL had them listed as not under production at this time when I got the RR ones.

I dont regret my choice as they have held up nicely, but seeign the RL's have beffier mounts and a cheaper price, I would have goen that route had they been in production

humm.. i live close to OH.. seems like this is maybe an hour or so away from me. How do you go about getting in to that place? is it guided or do you have to come in a group?? is there a trail map?? on a level of 1-10 how hard are the trails? if all goes well i'm planning on attending the event in november. (8th i think the website said)

they have no trail mapes yet, you can go guided or un guided. I ran into another lost member there that you could probably hook up with to show you around. I dont recall the screen name though.

In my opion all of the trails are pretty easy. Granted I got stuck in mud and ruts alot becuase I am so low to the ground, the rest of my group had no isses at all anywhere, we ran every trail we could find. I would say that most extreme trail there is aside from off camber amber (which isnt hard, its just a short solid rock face that runs at around a 45 degree angle, almost garunteing a roll) is a level 3 based on this http://www.colorado4x4.org/trail_ratings.html lots of level 1's and 2's, with a couple hard mud holes. not much for rocks right now but there is more potential there.

If its only an hour or so from you it is definately worth the drive out.

I'm used to tube chassis and highly modified vehicles so I dont find anything there enough of a challenge, but I had a good tiem in my stocker and will continue to promote the place for Robocon ( guy who runs it)

i went up that hill after you did, you were beating the crap out of that thing lol, id hate to see what your undercarriage would have looked like if you didnt have those rock rails

the lower part of your front bumper didnt seem to like you either lol

how did you like it??? anything challenging for your lifted KJ? how interested are you in going to the one in november?? haha.. if my jeep is in for some damage like offroadohio's i think i'll leave it at home

i love it. thats the 3rd month in a row i have gone. you can pick and choose what you want to do. you shouldnt get any body damage. you will prob get scratches though
