So I finally found somebody locally who is willing to help install a lift kit onto my KJ. And I've also pulled together the money. However, I do have one last question before I order to make sure I'm not wasting my money...

Here's what I have picked out.

OME HD Coils (Front & Rear), Rancho Shocks (Front & Rear), TeraFlex Extended Bumpstops (Front) DayStar Extended Bumpstops (Rear).

The above lift comes to approximately $668.00 before shipping expenses.

My question is is it worth it to spend the extra on a Frankenlift Standard I? The difference would be approx. $170.84.

Also, for whichever your suggestion be (Lift 1 or 2), what additional parts would you deem relatively necessary for the lift?

really up to you if want to spend the extra bucks, some have complained that the extra lift tore up their CVs, not sure if that is true as many have the Franky and no problems. Also remember that with some conduit nuts and a couple of cheap tricks your OME only spring lift can be almost if not as high as the Franky.
My own choice was the OMEs/Ranchos and 75,000 plus miles not one complaint and would do it again in a heart beat!
So you are paying someone to do the install? Not that hard to do!

I'm not that knowledgeable when it comes to vehicle modification stuff, so he's helping me and I'm going to throw him a couple hundred for his generosity. :D

He said he would suggest the Frankenlift, but that if I got the OME Lift he'd pick up the parts ahead of time to assemble the coils and shocks like the Frankenlift so there would be less down time during the actually installation.

either one is good, if I had the chance to do my lift again I would do it the exact same, OME HD coils Ranchos all around and a 3 ring clevis and 2 extra rear iso's

Installation time is not that bad if you have a shop nearby that can compress the springs for you. What I do now on ones for customers is tear apart the front, run the springs etc to the shop, come back and do the rear ( 30 minute job at most) , take a break for 15 minutes, go pick up the front assemblies and throw them on and still done in 3 hours or so easy

Might not be that hard, but keep this in mind. If I spend all Saturday doing a lift, thats a whole saturday I've lost. If I drop the jeep off at a mechanic for a day, and let them do it, then that gives me a whole day to do whatever I want, and yes, I do value my time that much. I like to do the basic auto work, and I'm gonna be taking a big leap and changing a muffler in the next month, but suspension is a risky area. If I miss a step I could find myself in a world of hurt, literally. or even worse a loved one could find themself there when they are driving. The benefit of a shop is a mechaninc I can trust, years of experience, and most importantly, someone I can blame if all goes to hell. Legally, I can go after a body shop, not that I would (too much time/money) but, if I was able to prove they screwed up, they are at fault, if I did the work... well, its blood or money on my hands.

Is a ome/rancho lift the same height as a daystar? its too much cash for me this time around, but im still curious about it.

yes, if you get the OME HD coils, with just the coils I gained 2.5" and then I added a rear iso and a slight clevis and that bumped it up to 3" and I could still go up even higher if I really wanted to by adding one more iso and by doing a strut plate

First I understand about time and the value of it, so do whats right for you. Second, yes the lift height is about the same, if you think even for a second you might want to do the OME lift, then you better do it the first time. Really this is not something you want to go back to do over, even if a shop does it. This is where you have to be very honest with yourself on what you want. If I didn't have a trail Jeep already, I would look at the libby differently and would have gone with a different lift etc.
