Thanks to the only person that actually answered my question. That would be the only person that gave me my best option for my budget. I'm not spending over $500, I'm not talking about saving the money or not, I'm not spending more. I have far more important things to do than blow money on a lift, so I set a budget.

So much for the budget eh? :?

Budgets are always good and always wise. On the flip side, buying something because it’s cheaper doesn’t always mean it’s the best value nor does it mean that it will be the cheapest in the long run. And finally, buying the cheapest doesn’t always make you happy in the end. Sometimes saving money is the better option until you can afford what you really want. Value is based on quality, cost, and customer satisfaction. There is a big cost difference and financial commitment when deciding between a $35,000 dollar Jeep Grand Cherokee and a $20,000 dollar Jeep Liberty. But when you’re talking about a $200 dollar difference when comparing two lift kits that vary in quality, then you’re talking about something that you financially have control over. I think this is where Tom is coming from.

FYI, at least where I live, hockpuckys for bumpstops are illegal. Not saying that is justified, not saying they would ever look during a inspection, just saying. What would a alternative be if I was... trying to be legal? lol.

I think this has been asked a trillion times, but I don't remember seeing the answer recently so... OME HD coils.. rancho structs (rear only). I would only need these parts right? And... what exactly can I expect for a height gain?

OME 928 and OME 927, Rancho RSX17505 (front) and RSX17004 (rear) 6 hockey pucks for bumpstops-3 on each side and terrflex front bumpstops

and you would gain about 2.5" if you add a aclevis and a rear iso you would be around 3"

just had to say it ...hockey pucks are illegal, have to see that in writing since most inspectors of any kind would not know what they are looking at anyways, esp. after you have them installed and have some mud on them....just saying.

and yes, when someone asks I give what I think is the best answer, you may not like that answer, but I have gone the cheap route back 30 plus years ago and paid for it by breaking other more expensive parts/things. So spending a few dollars more today will allow you to still drive your KJ next week.

Hey now, I did say nobody would ever notice, and it really didn't matter. I would just rather do the legal thing. Why? If I get in a wreck and the insurrance agency sends someone out to look at my jeep, if they find hockey pucks, then I may have to pay the bill myself. Its happened before, so its not a foolish idea. Anyways, I agree with you, I just wanted to know my options.

Isn't it illegal to even drill holes in hockey pucks up there?! Figured any non-hockey use might be illegal up there?

(what a smart-ass!)

All J's sells some poly rear bumpstops that should do the trick and keep any illegal use of hockey pucks from occuring.

I have 1 all j's rear bumpstop (same thickness as a hockey puck) and 1 hockey puck on each side. I tried to put 2 hockey pucks but not enough room. I guess my ome springs sag so i am putting another rear iso on. You can get the hockey pucks at canadian tire for like a buck each.

not only hockey pucks but any spacer lift is illegal so the daystar lift is as illegal as the hockey pucks :x I think its also illegal for pedestrians to cross the street without holding their mothers hand

Wow, and you guys talk about me flaming. Sheesh, at least I keep my snipy remarks related to the topic, and dont stray off into insulting me, or where I live. Either way, A local place has rancho shocks on for 25% off right now and does it every few months, so I will likely get a set of those, and than figure out what to do after that. Wont hurt to have a set of them in the garage sitting around I suppose. And no, spacers arn't illegal, but hock pucks are, don't bother pissing all over me, I never said I agreed with it.

yep, Canadian Tire 25%off...I noticed that this week ;)
Hockey sucks btw lol, so that's all pucks are good for in my opinion.
And yes I think you were a bit of an stupid in your first couple of posts which is why the guys are buggin ya....nothing personal, it's just how you came across asking for help and knocking the other guys down because they didn't answer your question directly..they were trying to give you more than what you asked for....sheesh

And don't forget you'll be paying brokerage also if you order the OME springs, on top of tax and all the cash grabs the government has setup at the border. Plus the dollar is falling like the leaves right now....good luck and keep us posted.

Are you sure about that? Is that in just your neck of the woods. I've Never heard of those rules. Not sure what would be unsafe about hockey pucks. I know wheel spacers may be illegal in some areas. Where i live every fourth vehicle is a lifted truck. No ones every stopped me to check if i had hockey pucks. The advantage of hockey pucks is of course if you ever get stuck somewhere and can't get out you can always play hockey.

I've looked on line and can not find any info on hockey pucks being illegal in canada for use as bumpstops or that spacer lifts are illegal. Not much info to go on. My guess is the hockey pucks may be illegal to be used as spacers in the lift and that wheel spacers are illegal in some places. People are probably just confused about what's what.

Using a Rusty's Budget lift for a year now. Had to replace the rear shocks aftet 6 mos. Kinda soft, but I installed it by myself, w/a clevis lift and can't really complain for a $160 lift. It works fine, I don't get to 4wheel all the time anyway, and I am slowly upgrading parts as I can afford it. If it was stiffer, it wouldn't be nearly as cush cruising dirt roads in the mountains. It's all a trade-off anyway. If all I cared about was 4wheelin, I'd buy a sweet crawler and tow it with my Jeep.
