I installed a DTT in my D30a and Im about to install a DL in my 8.25" but the guy I bought the DL from told me that you should use conventional gear oil not synethic gear oil for best operation from the differential. I am posting this because I did not know and Im going to guess there are others that didnt know about this.

just as a heads up for anyone with a DTT or DL

JSC7200.. let us know how you like the DL in the rear. I have the DTT in the 30A like you and was thinking of installing the DL in the rear too. I'd be interested to know what you find.

Thanks,
Ron

well I have had mine about a week now, and I love it. There were a few times i would have been stuck with out it on this past trail ride.

All the reviews i have read around the net have been good, but most have said it has terrible on road manners. They must have the older generation. It does pop every now and then about every (50-75 miles) it just sounds like you hit a bump, nothing extreme. and the steering is not too affected either.

It does unlock when not applying torque to it.

bottom line. for the money, its the best out there. Guaranteed performance.

I always used 75w-90 or 75w-140 full synthetic in my front diff with my DTT and never had any issue and it always worked.Ran it for about 30,000miles with zero issues, changed the fliud 3 times in that period also and no metal flacks at all.

The factory manuals for those diffs say:
Quote:
Lubrication:
All NoSPIN differentials are designed to operate in those lubricants recommended by the vehicle/axle manufacturer. No special lubricant is
needed. For very cold weather applications, use the lightest oil the axle manufacturer will allow to overcome possible sluggish reengagement
of the driven clutch assemblies.

I used syn on another application w/ a full Detroit locker and never had any problems while racing or street driving for many miles.

I know Im using the Royal Purple synethic on my front DTT, but Im just telling you what Eaton/ Detroit told me, which is that they recommend using convential gear oil, because it will preform better with it.

JJ's quote was from Eaton/Detroit -

ask the guy who said 'conventional gear oil not synethic' where his data comes from.
