so here I was layin under the jeep taking pics of whats goin on.....where the 2 holes are is my problem there is some thing with 2 screws on it....as seen in the next photo, (which is of the other side),....and I dont kno how to get them out, it seems like they are in the thing thats in the third and 4th photo which is some kinda enclosed bar that I cant seem to get into.

You need to remove the front bumper and remove the "frame" caps to get those bolt plates out.

Right from the '05 FSM..................
Quote:
FRONT FASCIA
REMOVAL
(1) Remove the grille. (Refer to 23 - BODY/EXTERIOR/
GRILLE - REMOVAL)
(2) Remove the turn signal lamps. (Refer to 8 -
ELECTRICAL/LAMPS/LIGHTING - EXTERIOR/
PARK/TURN SIGNAL LAMP - REMOVAL)
(3) Remove the fascia screws next to the turn signal
lamps. (Fig. 1)
(4) Remove the two screws at the bottom of the
fascia.
(5) Remove the three plastic rivets securing the
fascia to each wheelhouse splash shield.
(6) Release the three tabs securing the fascia to
the grille opening reinforcement.
(7) Remove the fascia.

I don't have any pics of the frame caps but yes they are right behind the bumber and are easily found and both are held on with one 10mm bolt.

Oh and those plastic rivits are a one time use only item so new ones and a special rivit gun are needed,Napa can get both.

just do it quick! when i took mine off there was a strange square tap that was on the side of the front fender flares that go into the bumper.. so if you follow the steps above and something still holding.. its those tabs.

It's not hard. Just be careful not to break any tabs when removing the grill and everything else is cake. If you have a garage, pull the Jeep in to warm up the plastics. If not, a hair dryer works well. Don't get them too hot though, just warm enough for the tabs to flex easily. Look in the how-to section on here for pics and instructions.

Here's a picture with the front bumper off. On the passenger side you can see a hole and on the driver side the cap is still on, this is what tjkj is talking about.

so those are pics from her jeep? Leave the bracket and bolts there and get new ones.
Removing the front bumper is actually real easy...it sucks having to remove the front flares too like I had to do, but you might not have too. Just take your time...
BTW: Have you check the glove compartment for the manual? Even the little hidden spot where the manual is hidden in? (the owner's manual won't show how to remove the bumper though)

sweet, this looks easy enough.

To BjBnet: yes those are pics from her jeep and the bad part is, is that on the side where you cant see the bolts sticking out, (the first pic), the bolts are up in that area that I cant get to.

Here's a pdf with pics. It's an install guide for a baseplate but, the first thing they show is removing the grille and bumper fascia. My grille is only clipped on not screwed on like the pic they show but, it should be close enough either way to give you a clear idea of what needs done.

Yep, drill them out and pick up some new ones at NAPA

I didn't have to drill any of mine, but I took the fender liners out at the same time so that may have been why. The only rivets that I had to remove just had a push pin in the middle that I pried up with a screwdriver, then they slid right out.
