nothing showing????
I tried doing one set with the cheaper ones while doing sean150s lift, when they slid around and turn the spring into a circle it was enough for me to take them up the street and have them do them and I get to keep my head on the right way

I think they have two sets one like 13 and the other 35/40 bucks is that the ones

its saying page cant be found, but I did see freight harbor in the url so Im going to say no since your asking about spring compressors, thats a tool you dont want to be using some cheap made in china special on

go check your local auto store and they usually have some you can rent or barrow

Link didn't work
however if you're going cheap
most auto parts stores will loan you tools - money refunded when you bring them back okay
around here both Advance auto and O'Reilly's loan spring compressors.

if you're going to buy something - I really like the Ampro T70570 - worked for CRD coils and OME 790's -
http://www.amprotools.net/Product_List. ... &mode=show

Advance auto sells them - it was ~$40

Most parts stores have a loan a tool service, go rent a compressor and take it back for a refund

I would suggest just going to AutoZone and taking advantage of their free loan-a-tool service. That is what I did. $50 deposit returned to as soon as you bring them back. My loaners were brand new in the plastic still. Some other auto parts stores have similar loaner or tool rentals.

Or just take the front assemblies to a local shop and have them do it for you for $10-$20 each.

Ok if you have a compressor and air gun, otherwise you'll probably wear your arm out cranking those.

Really I would say if you are asking this question you should take the struts to a local shop and have them assembled for you. No offense, but you have to be safe when putting these together. If you have never used spring compressors before this is not the time to learn unless someone is with you who has done them before. I just don't want to see you get hurt lifting your Libby.

rear is almost trivial - drop the sway bar and shock - jack up one side of the axle - the spring will almost fall out of the other side
you can put the stock sissor jack inbetween axle and body to a little more leverage - but it doesn't take much.
(That's 1 more reason for extended rear bumpstops - keeps the spring from falling out)

You should be able to do the lift yourself just make sure to have the struts put together right the first time. Also make sure to leave the iso pads in back.

Hey maddawg, I think I can shed some more clear light on this issue. I have both the cheap set and the more expensive set from Harbor Freight. I have used them on a number of passenger cars (I do have a compressor and air ratchet). I did my wife's struts on her Volvo during the summer and had to use both sets to get them to compress evenly. I tried them on one of the Jeep struts just to see how they would act and I found that I probably could have "made it work". But I would use a couple of short chains wrapped around the coils to act as safeties just in case one slipped. Now keep in mind that I am pretty comfortable doing this kind of work. That being said, if I needed to do them on my Jeep I would either rent two sets (so you can use four to compress them more evenly) or I would have someone else do them. I would not recommend that you try this with the cheap tools if you are new to this (and I am not any HF). You could rent good ones as inexpensively as you could buy cheap ones. And its not like a pair of pliers that you will use weekly for the next 20 years. Once you get your Jeep done, you will probably not need them again for a long time. Mine collect dust for years sometimes before I need them again. Image

Very good information there. Spring compressors can be very dangerous but they are also needed in this case. I think mine cost around $40.00 when I bought them 8+ years ago. They are not the expesive ones, but they are not the cheap ones either. I only needed 2 but I could see where 4 would help.

The only reason I said to have a shop help is because of the questions you are asking. A shop can do them pretty fast for you and most of the time its pretty cheap to have them do it and takes away the danger aspect of doing the install. My neighbors shop in Colorado had offered to do them both for $10.00 for me but I am the kind of guy that likes to do his own work.

Its all up to you how you proceed. If you let me know when you are doing your install I will make myself availible by phone to answer any questions you may have. PM me and I will give you my number.
