Check out expeditionportal.com lots of great ideas on shelfs/storage etc, some of these guys are pros at storage and overlanding and making every small area serve a purpose. seen some cool set ups on there

Definatelty. That is a great site anyway. You should definately take some time to surf it. I have done a few runs with guys from the. Canyon De Chelly in AZ was one of them.

I'm just starting to build setup. I recently built an interior rack and got one tool box with basic hand tools (wrenches, sockets, ratchet, BFH, etc...) Need to get another tool box and more tools and recovery gear.

Hey, TJKJ I noticed you are not carrying the proper antifreeze for your KJ....
There is no antifreeze in the pic I posted  .

I thought the gallon on top of the craftsman tool chest was antifreeze. My mistake! :)
That would be my first aid kit  .

2 things...
1-TJKJ, do you have something covering the side windows there in the back to keep nosy people guessing?

2-Mike, That looks pretty good my only concern it the extra height and the dog. Granted you can make it less tall but if yours jumps in like mine does, eek. It does look good and gives me some ideas. I have been trying to add some more tools to the KJ as time goes on.

This is a nice set up but our KJ’s doesn’t have the same cargo space.

That is very nice, and if I didn't feel like I had to carry everything plus the kitchen sink it would work real nice.

I went with the Husky Tool Bag from H Depot. Works well very strong and durable. Very easy to take in and out, can be covered with a blanket and dosen't really get in the way of the dog either!

I don't believe it. I am also using the Husky Tool Bag I got at Home Depot. Mine has mostly recovery stuff and not too many tools. But it is crammed full.

In addition I carry a fire extinguisher, air pump, tire pressure gauge, 12v lug nut gun, tire puncture repair kit I made up and a few other little things. A cell phone, a Python and 2 speed loaders and a 18rd wallet pack ride up front with me.

I just need to paint and I am done. I may add carpet to the top or Plastikote it instead. The dog would prefer carpet so I'll most likely go that route. I made the tool chest 8" tall and fit around the CO2 tank, has a secret compartment, one big drawer and locks. Turned out good. And now under my rear seat is freed up and there is still a bunch of room in the drawer. :D

So it is finished and sitting in my jeep. It doesn't look quite as custom as the one I posted earlier but I like it a lot. I tossed some stuff in and there is plenty of room for more when I get around to organizing it. I also keep a blanket and a back pack full of extra clothes under the back seat. You can't see but behind the CO2 tank there is a hidden cubby hole loaded with emergency food and my spare MSR stove. More room in there too.

Good job, now you have me wanting to redo all of mine in the back
I want trays with individual holders for each wrench/socket, hammer, screwdrivers etc, have to do some thinking , hate to do that, maybe a slide out table as well since I am at it:shock:

The box held everything like a champ today off road and was quiet too. I love it. I thought about doing the individual tool holder inside but figured I can bolt one in later on if I feel it is necessary. Post pics of yours Tom when you're done. Thanks for the compliments everyone.
