i have some pretty loud driveline vibes that are noticeable around 65mph and is loud at 70mph. i went outside tonight and crawled under the jeep (no i dont have a garage, yes it was very wet and cold). the rear driveshaft was solid, the front axles were solid, but the front driveshaft had some front to back play. it was only about .025 - .050 though. thats not much, is this the problem? or do i need to look at wheel bearings?

I had the same issue, forward & back play, side to side and rotating play... lot's of it. Jeep covered it under warranty, replaced bearings, a colapsable spacer. It was on a hoist for almost 3 weeks waiting for parts for the US to come out  , now it all good with no problems.

Maybe check the shaft to see if it is bent? I know the front end of the propellor shaft is spring-loaded, that may be part of the front-to-back play; not knowing the inner workings of the CVs that well I'd still be curious if there is a problem with the rear joint. You could check the rubber boots around both ends just to make sure they are not torn and letting dirt/grit/grime into the bearings. Anyone else with suggestions? Tom, Troy, Bueller?

I checked my rear u-joint at 25,000 mi. and it was almost dry. I had not yet experienced any vibes, but it was making a clank noise when in 4-lo shifting from drive to reverse. Replaced both rear driveshaft joints with greasable H.D..

The front shaft will have some front to back play and a bit of rotational as well. You can always pull it out to see for sure if it is the problem. It could be your tires out of balance, wheel bearing or maybe even outer tire rod ends are going.

Any abnormal tire wear?

just got new tires. thats what notified me that there was a problem. the vibes didnt go away with the old tires. i'm just gonna take it in and have them diagnose it. too many possibilities, and no good way to check wheel bearings.

always some "play" in the driveshafts , nature of the beast. Pull the front and see if that helps any, not too bad to get it out, little twisting, etc. But check the rear as well, it can give you a vibration all the way through the running gears at times. Wheel bearings are harder to check and I know it's tough for you to get anyhting done in a parking lot
