For sure not another diesel. I'm sick of being screwed out of my fuel economy savings at the pump.

Dodge 1500 truck w/ cummins light duty diesel if they ever make it to market

Dodge 2500 truck w/ 6 speed manual and cummins (06 because they get better mileage than the 07 and 08's)

Heard from a VW dealer that the Touareg 6 cyl diesel iscoming next year to California. That would be my pick if I had to replace my KJ CRD

Huh? Did nissan ever make a straight-six diesel 3.2? I know of 2.8s, 3.3s and 4.2s but not 3.2.

I'd buy a Skoda Fabia 1.9TDI! Oh, I already did

For offroading I'd get a used nissan patrol 2.8 or an even older toyota hilux 2.4 pick-up.

IF this wasn't reality, and I had money, I'd get a JK for offroading and a Skoda Superb 2.0TDI (common-rail 170hp) DSG for daily driver :D

Ahh schweet dreeems....

That's fact i'm in the same boat in SA where diesel used to be far cheaper than petrol but no more.

2008 LandRover Defender with the Common-Rail Ford Puma Diesel...oh, wait, you can't buy those here. Freakin' safety and emissions regulations.

...or a duplicate of the Jeep Sarge concept vehicle (Jeep J8 with the insides of a Wrangler Rubicon) but with a hard-top.

New would probably be the VW Jetta diesel wagon, saw one at the LA Auto Show, really neat. Used a GC CRD, has to be used as I live in CA and cannot buy them new here. I don't dislike the gas Liberty but already have a XJ/Cherokee for off road use.

I do not plan to sell or trade any of my newer vehicles. Vehicles are typically a bad investment and they depreciate real fast. So I’ve learned to pay them off and keep them. At the moment I’m working on a 4-door JK Jeep Wrangler European CRD conversion, other than that, I would (if I were rich) consider a Mahindra diesel pickup when they come available. I'm sure my 06 Dodge Cummins will last another 700,000 miles.

Tell me about it. I get a gasoline discount at the grocery store -- I paid $1.24 a gallon to fill my toyota. That's half of the current diesel price. Fortunately, my biodiesel still costs less than $1.00 a gallon to make, so with winter blending, diesel fuel is running me $1.70 a gallon.

Luckily, I didn't buy a diesel for cheap fuel. I bought one because they are superior towing engines, and I needed a lightweight towing rig for my motorcycle trailer.

Thanks, edited and corrected, Touareg it is but not with those rims and tyres, post a pic of the model that ran in the Paris to Dakar, a JK would look the same with those rims and tyres on

Ok here you go.

Or maybe you ment this thing ( also a Touareg but then with a Porsche badge)

Sorry Mackruss, I am not a fan of VW or any other useless 4x4 vehicle.

These are the ones that put me and my KJ under a lot of pressure and extra eco taxes etc so I get a bad rep thanks to a bunch of mall crawlers.

And if they are so offroad worthy...why have I never ever seen one on the trails? IMO you cannot even get of a wet golfcourse with a Touareg.

Sorry, rant over, we already had this discussion a couple of months ago.

You must play on some kind of a golf course then, have a look at the
clip.
