I bought some MTX Thunder Dome speakers for my dash (3 1/2") and there is no way in hell they will fit. Every website I see says the dash speakers are 3 1/2" but when you match my MTX's up to the factory speaker the are about 1" larger, almost like the factory speakers are 2 or 2 1/2". Can someone recomend a speaker that will fit w/out having to cut up my dash.

Are you talking about the tweeters? There are no other dash speakers that I have ever heard of besides having tweeters and those are nowhere near 3.5".

yeah the tweeters. Funny thing is EVERY audio shop/website says "factory" replacement speaker size for those is 3 1/2" so Im hopeing someone here has replaced them and can tell me what speaker they used.

Check out Crutchfield.com

Input your vehicle info and their data base will tell you everything that will fit. Says no after market tweeters are made for the kj.

I replaced mine with the Polk component system. Their tweets sound great. I have a post somewhere in here with the pics of my tweeter mod.

Circuit City has a very nice set of Polk tweets...and they're on sale! Check the website. I believe they're about 100 bucks on sale.

usually when you buy a component set mounting kits come with it. i suggest taking it from the dash to the A pillars to get a better image.

I like the POlks because you can tilt them so they are not just pointing straight up at the windshield like stock and the majority of tweets on the market.

I had a 2000 Dodge Neon and every place I called in the US said 3.5 would not fit, guess what they did! So I went the same route witht the KJ, they don't without modifing the mounts. They will fit with minor cutting of the mounts. I just used the tweeters from the Focal 165-V Editions and made custom mounts for them and they work great. Everything looks OEM.
