I have 120K miles on the rig. Had a EGR replaced early, but no problems since installing a Provent. My goal is 300K miles. Timing belt and water pump replacement is the next investment.
I expect a gasoline engine to run 300,000. If I were you, my goal would be ½ million
That is my goal! I sold my first diesel, the Jetta, with 150k on it, and in MINT engine condition. Compression of 500 psi in each cylinder. Once I can get the Suncoast into the CRD, I'm figuring that it will easily do that much. The transmission is from the heavy trucks, so it is designed for this kind of power input. When not towing, that transmission is just loafing along, and should last almost forever.
Biodiesel for the engine, synthetics for the fluids... half-million miles? Certainly possible!
