I had an e-mail from Jeremy at J.T. Parts & Accessories (see below). It was in answer to one I sent to them because they said they now carried 4.88's for the 8.25 rear differential. I told them that was only half good news for us Liberty owners, and asked them, "why don't you offer them for our Dana 30a's".

Terry

Yes we could make 4.88 gears to suit the front of the Liberty
but I really don't think that there is a large enough demand.

Probably in the 1,000 range. Don't really know.

well lets see we have 6921 registered users on here, so should be no trouble at all    ( of course only a hand full maybe 50 or so would actually buy them)
to dream of 4.88s
I would be happy with 4.56s

What would be the pint of gears that deep in a D30a though. The tires you'd want to run would be way to much for the front end to take anyway plus how would you fit those tires?

4.56 gears would be better suited for 32"(265/75's) tires on a KJ,4.10's are not enough, really not enough if you live in a area like Colorado.

4:56 would be better for 32s. My last truck had 33s and I ran 4:56 gears.

Heck, I’d be happy with 4:10’s. But 4:56 gears would be a dream come true.

If we can dream then I will go for this one http://www.solidaxle.com/ProductCart/pc/viewPrd.asp?idcategory=6&idproduct=28 and change the D30A, keep it IFS but with 33. I know, I know its better to do an SFA but I'm dreaming so don't wake me.
