Question, problay been ansewered a dozen times but now that I am running 245/70's vs. stock 235/70, how do I know what proper inflation is? I assume the recommended 33 PSI for the OEM's doesn't apply, any suggestions? Thanks.

Back in the day I ran my 245-70s at about 35 lbs, had the Firestone Destination ATs and thats where they wore the best at and rode good

245/70 r 16s on my KJ, studded winter tires. Got them set at 38 lbs. and that seems to be a good pressure.

I usually run 37 in mine. That's where I get even wear.

Chalk the tires and then drive forward a bit.

Check the pavement where the tire left the chalk.

A solid chalk line across the entire tread = good tire pressure

A line on the shoulders = under inflated

A line only in the middle of the tread = over inflated.

I run around 38PSI [COLD] on my stock sized tires which returned the best amount of ride / contact and all that other stuff..

Exactly the process I use to determine a proper PSI. I do this after each rotation and alignments.

Thanks folks....right now I'm around 36 PSI and w/ it being winter I'll have to wait until the un-thaw before I can try this chalk test. I just knew 33 PSi seemed to low when I first had them on. Thanks again.
