Well, lo and behold, I missed my Chrysler warranty on exhaust systems by 5000 miles....they stop it at 80K.....and my catalytic converter pooped on me. oh boy, $1200 dollars for the whole assembly (an impressive looking part) and another 150 in labor. They replaced it all, and wouldn't you know it, the heat shield on the new part rattled like a tin can! I went back a day later and they put a whole new part on as they couldn't shape the heat shield any better to not rattle....in the end, all was fixed and my KJ is now quiet and rumbling away.....but not out of the woods....LOL. I went out to warm up the jeep last saturday (it was 2 degrees outside) and I started it up. Put the heat on 3 and shut the door and went back in the house. I came out to drive 5 minutes later and daaaammmmn, my car was cold inside! I then realized NOTHING was coming out of my vents. I flipped the heat to 4 on a whim and it began blasting heat....1, 2, 3 settings just dead. Called the same shop up and he knew right away I had a bad blower resistor (this was Xmas eve) He ordered the part, threw it in the day after christmas in about 20 minutes and I was on my way with heat....so much for getting all my holiday shopping expenses out of the way over the summer and thinking I was ahead of the financial game for Christmas.....couple the 1600 on the KJ with a SS fridge dying the the week before and I had a merry $4000 christmas present to myself. ugh.

yep, that would have been the perfect excuse to get the Magnaflow from headers to back bumper! 8)

I second that.. When it gets warmer out, I think my Jeep is going to "accidentally" hit a sledgehammer - cats first.

I'm curious, how do you know when your catalytic converter is shot?

a rattel noise, tone difference, clog pipe could be running hot or turn colors
