Those Conti's are nice tires, but I'd never put them on a Jeep! If you want 18" rims with an AT tire, check out the General Grabber AT2, they make a 255/55/18 and a 255/60/18. They would both work well on an 8" wide rim.

Thanks Mr. Nick.... I really dig those wheels and I like the way the larger size diameter wheels look on a lifted jeep.... If I do get them I will probably do like you said and pick up those larger size Grabbers.... I been checkin them out and they seem to be a real good tire....

Religion will do that to a guy. I don't know if its Mr. TomMudd's case, but nothing makes a religious person squirm like tossing a few "GD's" into a conversation. They start looking for storm clouds.

Personally, I think a well placed curse adds to a conversation nearly as well as proper punctuation.

As to the rims, I like the way the ones on ebay look. Have you guys ever looked at these:

Honestly Digger- I think Im gonna pick up those 16's from that second auction I listed. Get the lift as well and just do the lift and use the stock tires & wheels for now.... i would really like to get a nice A/T but I cant really put myself out on tires right now.....

GOING OFF TOPIC HERE
First I can cuss with the best of them and if needed will
Second to uncleclejjg Religion has nothing to do with it at all, well placed curse wordss do not add to a conversation
Third
this site was started to provide a place that anyone could come to and feel welcome with out cussing, slanderous insults, making it FAMILY FRIENDLY etc. Respect others
Fourth, Jeep and others look at this site on a regular basis, we made it into a KJ brochure a few years back due to being an upstanding group of people not like Pirate and some other sites
Fifth I had someone recently redo my logos on the side of my KJ, turns out he is a minister, when he asked about LOSTKJs he said he may look but most sites have so much cussing and bashing that he doesn't feel comfortable in even reading the posts ( and this is a preacherman who goes to Jimmy Buffett and Dead Head concerts!) I talked to him last night and he commented on how this site was so good that he finally had his 5 year daughter sitting on his lap looking at all the Jeeps

NYKreppytats not a problem... just be careful

NOW BACK TO OUR REGULAR PROGRAMMING,

"WHAT DO I SPEND MY MONEY ON NEXT?"

Tom

I believe stock backspacing is 5" on a 7" wide rim. Those are 9" wide with 4.5" backspacing, so the outside edge of the wheel will stick out 2.5" more then stock. Something to keep in mind... might not stuff well and/or could hit the front fender while turning sharp with compressed suspension.

Yep your going to need a bigger lift then 4" to be able to run those wheels cuase you'd need a min of a 12.50" wide tire on them.245's are way to narrow, heck 265's are even way to narrow for those rims. You need to stick with a 7" wide rim with 4"-5" of backspacing to avoid major issues.

Just checked it out, I missed that whole 16x9! Sometimes when you see a nice lookin wheel you just see that its a 16" and overlook all the other dimensions... Maybe I'll just get some good ol reliable 16" soft 8's and call it a day.... I had those on my lifted YJ I just sold and they never gave me a problem... EBAY is sooooo bad for your pockets  !!!!

Tommudd- I hear ya brutha! I just tattoo hooligans and biker friends of mine all day long, so thats all I hear all day... I know what you mean about all the other sites, where every other word is 4 letters! Gets a little too hostile to even have a normal convo about anything!

Thanks to everyone for the advice.... 'Tis much appreciated!!!
Maybe if i get the steel cragars ill have enuff to get some new tires as well...

Go to a Discount Tires and get a set of Unique Steels series 297's(The actual makers of the soft 8's) in the 16x7 with 4" of BS and you'll be set for about $250 for 5 rims.

You might be able to do that yourself, I'm going to try this method that one of the guys at work suggested.

Take your factory wheel/tire off and lay it flat, let all the air out and try to break the bead by stomping on the sidewall. Then have a friend use a pry bar with a rag (to protect your rim) and compress the tire while you (or your friend!) reaches in and removes the TPMS valve. Then replace it with a standard stem. If you have an air compressor, you can even put air back in the tire. This might save you some labor charges when you get the new wheels & tires mounted. I'd talk to the shop first, it might only affect the labor cost a few bucks, and it might be worth paying it to avoid the hassle!
