Meh, depends on what kind of driving I'm doing. If I'm creepin' round offroad, auto. Man, last time I drove a stick (sunfire!) I stalled the hell out of it on a hill. Which drove me insane, because I can take my motorcycle anywhere and be fine...hahaha oh well

In general being the key phrase, manual. Trucks and suv's, auto. I wont own a car unless it's a manual.

Guess you won't have a Caddy or other luxury cars.

A real sports car, not the wanna-be's, always Manual.
Luxury car - Auto (that's the whole point of being luxury)
Pickup Truck - Manual
Off-road rock crawling - Auto
LA and DC driving and traffic jams- Auto

Kids...

I spent hundreds of hours off-road in a CJ2a with a manual tranny, manual steering, manual brakes, & 32" tires ( 11-15 in old-speak .) The seats were like plywood. Several on here have done similar things. But now, if the 4x4 doesn't have a fountain drink dispenser on board and Grey Poupon holster it is too hard to drive... And people wonder why manufacturers went to IFS and other street-oriented configurations...

Although your clutch may pay for it, you do not have to have stupid shock loads or any loss of smoothness with a stick. Does it take more practice/skill? Probably. But that is part of the fun. We are getting closer and closer to this:

1. stop at foot of hill
2. press "hill" button
3. remove hands from wheel & feet from pedals. Cross arms on chest, place feet flat on floor, and remain still.
4. Once at top of hill, return to user input mode.

Hey, turns out you weren't banned after all!

My Isuzu Trooper did that, dude.

Put in 1st gear, shift to 4 low. Let out clutch.

Get out of truck and walk beside it:D

Manual all the way.. I dont care what it is or what I am doing. The only way I would ever buy any vehicle with an auto would be if I already had a manual sitting in the shop to swap in.

Ive blown up too many autos (2, I think, one in a brand new car), and I have literally only put about 15000 (if that) total miles on automatic transmissions in my life. ..Compared to a few hundred thousand on stick with no failures.

On the flip side to your blowing up Autos, I have had more problems with manuals than autos.

A pickup and a sports car with manuals and went through more problems with them than the 5 auto vehicles I have owned, which includes my KJ.

Some people just cant handle a stick-shift as well as others..

..And then there are retards like me.

(Granted, I was also like 12 or 13 when I learned to drive a stick-shift)

What the heck trannies did you keep killing? I don't think I could hurt my T18 with a sledgehammer or a 12 ga.

Man you waited till you were old! I was put in a 54 International 2 ton flat bed at 7, asked my Dad what to do, and he said you have between here and the barn to fiqure out how to stop/start/shift gears and reach the pedals! At 11 or 12 I was hauling grain 13 miles to town to the feed store by myself in that old corn binder, never thought about a license or anything.

Us city-folk do things a little differently.. I did manage to bury a 2wd pickup nearly to the frame in mud, though. :D
