I'm looking at new tires and my wallet and the 245 70 16 are about 50 bucks cheaper and may help the MPG's.
So is 245 70 16 to small for my moabs???

no you should be fine Jeep Dawg is running 235/70 and he said he has no rubbing issues.

going to be stretching those sidewalls out a lot should only run a 245-70 on a 6 to 7.5 inch rim,
255-70s were almost too narrow 265-70s sit good.
I would not do it as it could lead to problems
but then some do it but will be hard to air up maybe

Never heard of anyone having problems.

Ive ran my 245/70/16 yoko's on both a 8" wide cragar and the moabs for around 10k miles with no problems.

TJ's came with 30x9.50r15'a (almost the same as 245/70r16) on 8" rims.

I have 245/70r16 Grabber AT2's on 16x8 Cragar soft 8's and no problems after 12,000 miles (other than a little rubbing).

In fact, I also have another KJ with 245/70r16 General Grabber AT's on the stock 16x7 steel wheels, and the Jeep with the 16x8's handles, rides, and looks better with the same tires.


By the way, for the record, Chief Justice Roberts flubbed the oath, not President Obama.

Not by choice, but I’m running the Bridgestone Dueler A/T Revo’s in a 245/75R16. They came with my Moabs when I bought them, so it’s kinda like free rubber for me. I personally wouldn’t want to run a 245 on Moabs, but sometimes the pocketbook may tell you otherwise. If money isn’t an issue, I would go with a 255 or 265.
