Pulling all of the catalyists off of the KJ will probably cause even more damage. Without each of the catalyist pulling out the caustic gases, the O2 sensors will tell the computer to correct the air/fuel mixtures to compensate which will lead to poor performance, the CEL being illuminated constantly, and damage to your cylinder heads and pistons.

If the parts are all smashed up (I didn't know that) than you really need to get the KJ into a muffler shop for repairs. The KJ will be a much happier vehicle when the exhaust system is functioning properly.

ok so i went back in to chrysler this morning. they had a technician ride with me and as usual the car worked perfectly, until we turned around. flashing check engine light and low power. they ran the codes and found multiple misfires. there is something in the engine that is causing a piston to get hung up. its all covered under warrantee but this sucks. once a month i have to pay a crap load of money to fix some bs. may be time for another jeep

i got the jeep back today. my mileage has jumped from 15.4-18.6

they replaced all the valve heads and 2 pistons also. there is a huge list of stuff they replaced. my exhaust is noticeably louder. like it almost vibrates the car loud.

So rather than start a new thread, I'm resurrecting an old one with the perfect title. I was sitting at a stoplight today waiting to turn left, and when the traffic light changed and I stepped on the gas, the engine hesitated a bit, then shuddered and the Check Engine Light flashed on and off maybe three or four times, slowly. By the time I finished the turn, the CEL was off and the engine was running smoothly again. With a flashing CEL, I'd have pulled over right away, but there was only enough time to get out of the intersection before the light was out. Drove 50 miles to work and it ran fine and the light stayed out.

Tried the ignition key trick to check for codes and nothing came up, but obviously it was a misfire. I'm hoping it doesn't recur on the way home tonight and was just a hiccup, a bit of dirty fuel or something. Fuel injectors and throttle body were cleaned and plugs changed a month or so ago.

Anyone else have the light flash for just a short time like that?
