some one slid into me today while i was parked on my friends street. Luckily this guy was cool enough to come find me and let me know. The only damage is to my fog lights and my grille which is all stuff i figured i could fix but i did get his info and everything and he said he would pay for it, guess im looking for the cheapest way to do it and i have a 04 sport patriot blue and would prefer a non chrome grille and i dont need the insert its fine.

Yep, you gotta go pick up. They wont deliver to your house.

Right as you walk in, go to the counter, tell them the part you want, if they have it, go to the next room, wait for them to bring it out of the back, open it up, make sure it is in good condition, check for broken tabs or scratched plastic, pay for it, drive home, install.. once installed or painted you can not return it.

i have been doing that with my chrome grille now. i did all the steps sanded, primed, adhesion promoter etc, but the chrome still shines thru after a while and hitting enuff bugs and gravel flying at me.

Just sand all of the chrome off first, rather than just roughing it up or using adhesion promoter.. Would acetone take it off, or would it also damage the plastic? Have a chromy laying around somewhere and Im too lazy to find it to look. ..Or maybe the chrome wont come all the way off.. ? ..Dont know a whole lot about chromed plastic, truth be told, so I may be just blowing smoke (or smoking blow  ).

I would go to the dealer and ask them who installs aftermarket grilles for them if they do not do it themselves. Sometimes they will give you a take off grille free... That is how I got all the grilles to make the clocks. May not get your color, but for free, you could paint it for less than buying a new grille.

Oven cleaner strips chrome from plastic.

It rocks.
