I bought a set of retreads and I am loving them, they are wearing great and they clean when your driving through snow or mud, and best of all they are cheap! I bought the 245/75 MT and it was $90 each shipped

I highly recommend them!

You are trusting your life to your tires when you are out on the road. In my opinion, one of the places I would not skimp that bad is on tires. I am with the safety dept of a USPS facility, & exactly none of the LLV`s ( the fleet of vehicles that deliver your mail) has a retread. The only vehicles we have with them are heavy duty trucks, & of those, by law- they can only be mounted on the rears & on trailers. Not on steering axles (front). Ever notice those long pieces of rubber along a highway?. They are known in the trucking trade as "alligators", & 99% of them are retread caps that have come off. Just something to think about. Its your money, but its also your life. I woulden`t use recaps on a radio flyer wagon :!:

Well - here we go again - because as near as I can tell - no one ever addressed the issues raised in the last discussion

I mean LTT - posted his experience with TreadWrights - which was good (as have several other folks)
and you personally have experience in a retread shop - which is good -
but you didn't quote any statistics or data as to reliability.

but as to data - I'm the only one who posted data - and it's not clear anyone else even read it much less challenged it.

and several folks contributed to the arguement - but not as much to the discussion.

and before we end up with a lot more opinions
show me the data that supports it.

Firestones are junk
Goodyear is junk
BFGs are junk
Interco tires are junk
Michelin is junk
Toyo is junk
Cooper is junk
Dean is junk
Kumhos are junk
well basically any tire out there is junk,
Jeep is junk they make IFS suspensions which is junk

My beard is growing out, I already have my hat, buying another horse tomorrow , wagon next week, I am just about all Amished up so good bye gas powered world I don't care what flies off your tires , unless it hits me or my horse. :wink:

personally
I never argued they're junk
I argued they're overrepresented in the Debris data.
and since they are are 1000 retreaders and no National Standard
I'm expect that they follow most human endeavors and have some companies that good and some not so good,
with a bet that 80% of the problems come from 20% of the companies.

The safe bet is to use them if you're in a low stress environment - around town, off road
but avoid them if you're carrying heavy loads, high speeds, in hot temps.
and ask lots of questions about inspections and quality.

Oh yeah - and check your tire pressure - it's easily 4 to 5 times more important than retread/new

Your last statement is the best I have heard for a long time, Most tire failures are caused by people never checking the pressure in new or retreaded tires. I have stopped people before telling them you have a low tire and they are like " Oh ok I will check it next week!" People bring tires in that you can tell easily that they have ben run low and they say Oh I checked the air last year, yeah 8 months ago. Going down the road over the weekend to a LOST get together seen a car and the rim could not of been 1/2 inch off the road , tire was flat and the lady passed me and I was running about 75 stupid people :twisted:

Not any worse than watching the same question about lifts with ten threads going on at the same time, sometimes it gets funny, may have to try answering a question from one post in another post just to keep everyone awake!. :lol:
