You MO guys will have no excuse not to come to my next diesel GTG here in Oct next year. I think it will be our 5 th year hosting them for VW & MB owners. I used to do them twice a year, but it got to be a little much for me and I wanted to go to more of the GTG about the country. We have had turbo's off, done timing belts, oil changes and just about anything you can think of except swap out engine or tranny.

Edited for comment: The intake manifold removal and cleaning were about the nastest thing ever done here in the garage, man the intake cleaning is a nightmare. The last time we had one to do, one of the guys had gotten a spare manifold and had it diptank cleaned then just switched manifolds out at the GTG. Worked out great.

Yeah, My wife and I were up in Lake Tahoe this wkend hoping to get some skiing in. Unfortunately it was raining Friday and Saturday which caused the snow that was there to melt and combine w/ the rain into some crazy floods. The friend's house we were staying in lost power for most of Saturday and they even closed I-80 to Reno due to a rockslide. Then Saturday night everything froze so we had a nice sheet of ice to drive home on. No incidents though so that's the good thing. But no skiing either :(

The worst flooding around the Bay Area was north of San Francisco in wine country. The wineries didn't get hit too bad since they're usually on hills but some of the resorts and towns along the river got hit pretty bad.

Although being an Okie, none of this is like when the Arkansas floods from time to time. Worst one I can remember was '85 (I think - I was 10) my family had to help some friends sandbag all night - I was tired for a week.

Wow! What an eclectic bunch we have!

Let's see...I'm in VA Beach, VA right now. I've only been here for a few years, but I think it'll be home for a while.

My brother, who owns an 05 CRD (Pat Blue) lives in Raleigh, NC.

KJMedic - You're right next to VIR!! That's one of the greatest road tracks in the country!! My brother and I are talking about going there to watch a race this fall. You like car racing?

oldnavy - My Dad's side of the family is only 90 miles east of you. They run a huge dairy farm in Ballard County, KY (Dad's the only one who left). Might be making a trip there this summer for the family reunion.

alljeep - Indy's a great track! I've been to one CART Indy race (pre-split), the first NASCAR race, and the return-of-F1 race. Fun place!

Taz - That's just a good name for a town. Lake Elmo. Do you guys do a yearly ritualistic drowning of the red fuzzy muppet? I'd like to see that.

RedJeepCRD - My sister lives just down the road from you in Clermont. Not planning a trip down this year (taking lots of vacation for my honeymoon), but will probably be down there next year.

gsbrockman - I know a Sand Gap Bridge in Powell County (Natural Bridge) and a Sand Gap school in Jackson County. Are either of those the Sand Gap you're talking about? Mom's family is from Pomeroyton (Menifee Country) and I went to college in Morehead (Rowan County). I think Pomeroyton's population is something like..2.

Personally, I'm glad to see that the Liberty CRD appeals to such a wide range of people in so many different parts of the country. I look forward to a big CRD meet & greet sometime!

Yep....that's the one.....I attended Sand Gap Elementary in Jackson County. Today, I live only about .8 miles from it. During 1992 thru 1994, I was a marketing rep for a cable television company.....I worked in Powell, Wolfe, Menifee and other neighboring counties (and quite a few more I can't seem to recall at this time). Today I commute 57 miles one way to work from Sand Gap to Lexington.

Wiesbaden Germany. Originally I called North Florida home. Been here almost 10 years now. Wow VIR, I think I want to move there when I come back to the US. Maybe Sebring, FL. Right now I live in the middle of Nuerburgring and Hockenheimring, so I have good times there driving. Have to see what time I can laydown in the KJ when I use it to tow the car to the track.

Nice country! My Jeep wishes it could explore some of those trails!! In 92-94 I was in college in Morehead, tearing up the twisty KY roads in a Ford Ranger that I bought in West Liberty. My Liberty is everything my old Ranger wished it could be. ;-)

I moved here to VA Beach from Lexington, KY. Worked there for a number of years. Nice place, but the country's nicer. Mom and Dad still have a house there...Masterson Station Park.

Wait a second...CABLE in Frenchburg? What in the world would everyone do with those huge satellite dishes?!?! Cut 'em in half and make tanning beds? My Grandmother didn't even have CITY WATER until 1996!!! HA!

Nice to meet you Greg. I'll give a holler next time I'm heading that way.

Later, Brady
