I installed a pair of Sylvania Silverstars (Which I Love) and when I leave the headlights on for the 30 seconds that they stay on after taking the key out of the ignition, it drains the battery. This started happening after a week of its install.

Can somebody help me understand why this is happening?

hmmm I"m not quite sure if that should be happening at all. A bunch of us on here have the Silverstars and I'm not aware of another incident like that. Do you have any other type of equipment that pulls a lot of power like a huge audio system or some TVs or perhaps a refrigerator? (sorry, the last one was a joke)

It is completely stock, the silver stars are the only mod this KJ has ever seen. Though I must admit I do have a refrigerator in my kitchen

Maybe I installed it wrong? I unplug the battery wire while doing the install, unplug the stock HID and plug the Sylvanias in and connected the battery wire back.

Have your battery checked. It sounds like it is getting weak.

Silverstars draw no more current than the OEM bulbs. They aren't brighter, just "whiter". If you see a change in behavior since they were installed, maybe there's a short or something, but I don't think you can blame the bulbs, unless one is severely defective.

I'd guess your battery is going bad. It is probably just a coincidence that you added the Silverstars at the same time.

Take it to Auto Zone or something like it. They test all that stuff for free.

Not usually. I've never seen them come on for a dead battery....they usually only come on if you have a problem with your alternator...like failure while the engine it running, and the light will come on as things begin to slowly die one by one.

You can have a bad cell in your battery with no warning, until things don't work and the vehicle won't start.

I can vouch for that. My battery died last week. There were no warning signs. I stopped by the post office on the way to work in the morning. When I got back to the car, it wouldn't start. No starting problems in the past 45 months. No lights flickering/dimming or anything like that. Installed a new battery and no problems since.
