Treadwright 245/75/16 OTR... Lift Installed...

Ok guys so I had ordered some 245/75/16 OTR's from Treadwright and they arrived today. As soon as Fed Ex came, I looked inside and notice they looked huge!!!

Here are some pics:

He took them out of the truck and I picked them up and noticed they were alot heavier than the BF Goodrich 245/75/16's I have now. He said "Your going 4 wheelin' are'nt ya?" I looked at the tires, looked at my Libby and with a huge grin I said... "YEP!!!".

So I compared the wheels next to my Libby and it's a huge difference. They look like they are 85's or something like that. Currently my Libby does not have a lift and the 245/75/16 I have on it now fit perfectly fine with no rubbing of any kind.

On the website it states they are:

Size: 245/75/16
Diameter: 30 5/8"
Tread Depth: 16/32"

If it states they are 30 5/8 why do they look bigger than my tires? They seem like they won't even fit inside the fenders once installed. Seems like I need to do alot of cutting to make these work.

Here are my questions:

1- Will these fit without a lift (Lift is still sitting in my trunk as I need someone to help me install it)
2- If they do not fit without a lift, how much cutting will I need to do to the fenders/bumper
3- Anyone have a link showing how to cut the front bumper and fender (It's a 2002 3.7L KJ Sport)

Please help me out on this one...

The rolling radius of the tire will probably get a little smaller once they are mounted and aired up. Remember that the sidewalls will pooch out some bringing the tread to a smaller diameter.

So in all fairness, they should be able to fit without any trimming or cutting correct?

I just got scared seeing them so huge next to the ones I have on the Libby now...

They may be a little bigger than your BFG's since the tread lugs are could be taller. So you may have to do a little trimming. Only way to tell is if you put them on and see...

you will want to pound the pinch weld if you already havent. they are great tires those are the same ones I have and they are very heavy they are load rating E

Those really don't look like 245/75s that're on the KJ now. I may be wrong...

Have'nt got them installed yet...

I actually want to install my lift and tires at th same time...

I wil probably need to hammer the pinch weld. I saw a tutorial on how to do it... Any of you guys have any problems after doing the pinch weld mod?

Oh and as far as the tires on my Libby now, I looked at them and they are 245/70/16 (Yes I'm an idiot!) All this time thinking they were 75 and they are actually 70... WOW!

You need a lift to fit 245/75 under your Liberty, they are larger than the 245/70 tires you have now.

245 / 25.4 = 9.65 x .70 = 6.75 x 2 = 13.50 + 16 = 29.5" diameter

245 / 25.4 = 9.65 x .75 = 7.24 x 2 = 14.48 + 16 = 30.48" diameter

245/70 is almost one inch larger than 245/75.

With a clevis lift and small 1/4" OTT strut spacer in the front and a upper isolator in the back, you could get those tires to fit. And you need to pound the pinch weld in the front.

I thought you can fit the 245/74 if you have a pre-lowered but with suspension sag probably not, but I would try what jeepkj02 said and add a clevis and s strut plate and a rear iso or two and you should be able to stuff them in there, or just do an OME lift!

Ok so I began installing the space lift kit on my Libby today. I got around to installing just the front one because it was getting late.

So here is the before and after look:

Sorry for the pics having glare, I was fighting with the sun to take these pics...

This lift will give me a 2 inch lift all around. I'm hoping after tommorow I can install these tires and see where I stand. From what I see it's going to look awesome! Let me know what you think...

Yea, you're going to need the lift. I've got a set of there AT's and I rub with a Rockfather 2 lift.

Keep us posted those are the exact same tires I’m getting some time in late March. Hope you don’t get to much rubbing. I’ll be mounting them on Moabs though.

Do those tires have the Ultra Grip?

EDIT: I would get extended bumpstops, if you don't want to blow your struts.

There are no struts on a KJ, so there is never a worry about that.

You will not get agressive 245/75/16's on with the OME alone lift unless you want to do some modification. Even with an OME "+" lift, I had to remove the chin spoiler/splash guard thing with stock rims. Not a big deal, but sitting .5" to 1" lower would cause even more issues.
