It is higher because a lot of lifted vehicles rotate the rear axle to redo the angles to the proper config.

I'm running the Rockcrushers on both ends of the LJ. The rear was a lot harder to get the holes lined up than the front. I had to put the bolts in loosely first so I could shift the cover to get all the holes to align. Then I tightened them down. And the bolts they sent with the cover sucked too. They were standard hex head bolts. Allen head bolts would have worked much better. Since the cover is rounded out so far, I could only use an open end wrench to tighten some of the bolts. I was unable to get proper torque on all of them and it did develop a slight leak. But when the shop pulled them to do my re-gear they apparently had no problems since I have not had any leaks since. The only problem I had installing the front was holding it up while I started the bolts. The tie rod was kind of in the way. Like Inc said, you still use the factory required amount of fluid. If you put more in it just because you can, you'll start puking it out the vent tube once it warms up.

So with the rockcrusher rear diff on an unlifted, should just put in the 2 qts of oil along with 4 oz of friction modifier since the vent tube is going to spew if you put in more than 2.13qts or whatever anyway?

just want to get a bit of clarification there

thanks

it doesnt matter if your lifted or not it will still use the same amount. yes your supposed to fill it so that the oil is 1/4" below the fill hole, but I just fill it till it starts to flow out and then I plug it

some diff covers may raise it a little or make it stick out a little more so it will hold more but they usually mention it, but having a lift doesnt affect it at all.

Actually having a lift will change how much fluid the rear diff hold's from rotating the diff that a lift automatically does if using the stock cover. That's why most aftermarket HD diff covers have the fill plug higher so you can retain the correct amount of fluid.
