THIS IS GETTING RIDICULOUS. Many folks have said what has been done with there experience with the KJ since 2002. either take what they have to say at face value or don't. but this constant arguing of Ive been a technician or mechanic for years is irrelevant. and going back and forth about bump stops and strut assemblies. let just agree to disagree :)

i understand what your trying to say tracker. but we have IFS, chances are we are going to be 3 wheeling A LOT, compared to a solid axle front and rear vehicle. look on YouTube for hummer H1 videos, they 3 wheel A LOT, and get through some crazy stuff!

Great! but Hummers have gear reduction hubs and were built more for offroad. I've been talking about IFS the whole time. There is so little travel that I wanted to point out what hapens when you get 2.5" of lift from a 1.5" kit. I just feel that the majority of Liberty owners are not as hardcore as the few that answer the majority of the posts. They are probably not interested in your type of wheeling. They may be concerned with overall road manners unlike some.

No, that's not yours, that's mine with only the rear lifted but yours looks the same with your 927's on a 2.8.

Rayman your setup is nothing like a prerunner. they are way more droop than compression. yours is the opposite.

Tony why did you imply that was my Libby? Try to keep it civil.

i thought you couldnt have that much compression since i have 3" Teraflex front bumpstops?

Tony you want droop so your tires keep in contact with the ground when you come off a bump for what ever speed you are going. traction is good. when you 3 wheel it causes more stress on the other axles. There is no point to having a ton of compression if the wheel can't rebound far enough to stay in contact with the ground. 50/50 is good.

rayman not everyone wants to set there vehicle up like you. I understand a lot of people do. if you are in 4 hi, you will probably notice the effects of less droop. terrain such as sand duned with ripple bumps or fire roads, etc. usually terrain that cycles the suspension quickly. probably 15 mph or faster.

the point i'm trying to make is if you are a mall crawler or an occasional crawler and really want a better ride and some lift following OME reccomendations is fine. i understand people have different needs. it seem like a lot of people push HD and i'm just trying to point out issues so people can make more of an informed decision. When I take advice from someone I want to know how it effects all aspects of what i'm asking. There have been some people who were not happy with the HD setup (no bumper, no winch). Maybe the extra lift helps for the wheeling you do but if you were playing in sand dunes or some of the terrain in Baja, i think a 50/50 split would be more beneficial than an extra inch of lift. you don't need to be going 50mph to notice it.
Why lift a vehicle at all if your not going to wheel it? The lack of droop or upward travel is the drawbacks of OEM IFS,every make/model deals with this same issue. It does not effect ride at all unless you are at 4"+ of lift in a KJ.All you have been trying to say about bumpstops and droop and such is more for a SFA rig,IFS is a different animal that let's face it you do not know much about. To overcome this problem they have invented a simple little device called a "Locker" which greatly adds to the ability of a IFS rig.Try one you may see the light  !

mine still has PLENTY of downtravel, for being lifted about 2.5 to 3". when i jack the jeep up, the suspension still has PLENTY of droop to it before the tires are off the ground

As does mine,at least 4" of droop and I'm sitting at 3.75" of lift.

See, many of us here actually like jeeps and the purpose for which they were made. We bemoan the "mall-crawling" of the brand, and those that further that point do seem to be the enemy.

If we had wanted CR-V's or any other cute ute, we would have bought one of those and not tried to posuer up a Jeep. Also, for many of the people here, their kowledge is realistic & not theoritical. THAT is the difference. I would rather have people like that buy a RAV4 and be done with it. You did not need a Jeep or in most cases even a 4x4 for most fire or camping trails. If folks do not want to use jeeps as jeeps, that is fine. But they should not come on here trying to crack on those that do.

a stock crd has 4 3/4" of droop. Yeah you gained ground clearance but lost droop with your set up.

Gloves are off i tried to be polite. my nuts sag 4" woopty fu#kin doo you ask why lift a liberty if your not going to wheel it? To replace the crappy suspension. I wouldn't want to wheel a liberty, aluminum front diff and unibody are potential for carnage. You will never be able to run larger tires unless you consider 32 large  . i don't want to wheel on the kiddie trails. on the east coast you can't even go on the moderate to hard trails unless you have at least 33s and a locker. i would never spend 20 to 30 thousand on a rig and mods and only be able to run small tires(32). If i was going t spend that kind of money I would build a rig that could run 90% of the trails out there. There is like 10 people on here with ifs that think they are god but don't even know why they need droop or why its a dumb idea to use a spacer in a strut with a progressive rate spring. lock it.
