The `05 white KJ but you need to get a supply of window regulators to keep in your garage. Practice replacing regulators on a trashed KJ so you have it down the first time.

Of course, I have cursed myself by saying that and will suffer a broken window regulator very soon.

I would get the 05 Limited.

The tow package is only a mechanical fan, wire harness, hitch and a power steering cooler.

Find a used liberty in the junk yard (2002-2004) and grab the window regulators off of it. Then when the regulators break on yours, you can just put in the more robust versions.

For what you might be using it, I’d take the white one. But like it was mentioned before sell what you might not use, like those nerf step bars and install a “towing package”.

Why would an off road vehicle have leather seats? Oh wait the Liberty was not really intended for off road. (Oh I just put my foot in my mouth).

I Would take the 05, I prefer the new front style. BUT, I would tell them to take at least another 500 of the sticker. Used car sales is terrible right now especially gas gussling SUVs

You'd think they'd be drooling over a customer walking in but I swear every place I've been in during the last month acted like they couldn't care less. Some wouldn't haggle at all when they were clearly asking too much, others low ball on the trade-in offer, etc.

If I trade in my car, is the sales tax based on the difference between the new car and trade-in value? I thought that's how it should be but I've had a dealer tell me that tax is based on the price of the new car, not accounting for any trade-in value.

Don't offer up a trade until AFTER you haggle your best deal. That way they can't pad the price and offer you a bigger trade value. If they ask you if you have a trade in just say no! Get the deal worked out in writing and leave. Come back later or another day and then ask how much would they give you in trade using the price of the deal you worked out before. If at all possible sell your trade ahead of time and use the cash as a down payment..it's alway a better deal for you this way.

Full time is a very handy 4x4 feature for wintery climates for sure if your KJ will be a DD. My KJ stays in full time from the end of fall to the beginning of spring. Maybe look for a sport with full time? Shouldn't be too hard to find. Extra cooling is also a great option. And yes, you should be able to deal a good price nowadays.

I love my limited, hey if your going to wheel a vehicle where the inside is not exposed to the elements like a wrangler. why not have the comfy leather seats with heaters, can you say toasty bottom on those below 30 degree days! I also have the towing package :P , and the select trac comes in handy, like in those rainy situations whrere the roads are slick. Ohhh and did i mention the factory trashlock lsd? haha limiteds come nicely stocked from the factory, only bad thinks i can say is chrome, and you definently have to get rid of the nerf bars, put them on craigslist, then use the money to get rockrails :D

if you take the limited, get a good trans cooler, they're easy to install and not real expensive. The 42rle does overheat, and bad things will follow if it goes unnoticed. Like when my tranny and engine blew at 21000mi. Of course I am the only one that I have heard of that has had this happen, it never hurts to get a cooler and a trans temp gauge. Then all you have to do is visit Wilmington NC and spent 6K for a SFA

Go with the Sport...that white Limited looks gayer than two pink hats with those bling wheels, pinstripe and chrome tail light guards.

I gotta advocate the Sport here. Towing package, better looks by a LONG shot in my opinion and $500 cheaper, maybe more if you can haggle. Take that $500 and put it toward a lift and shoes or something more worthwhile than leather and chrome. :D

Also, beware of vehicles with aftermarket pinstripes on used car lots. Chances are they've been involved in collisions and repaired. Most hack job body shops do a quick bondo-and-spray then slap on those tacky pinstripes to further mask their crappy body work. I've seen it a billion times. Why else would a person put a super-gay pinstripe like that on ANY vehicle?

If you do decide to go with the Limited, look over it really carefully for signs of collision damage and repair. Maybe get a CarFax, too.

Advantages of the 05:

...the Leather seats are MUCH more comfortable that the cloth ones. I made that choice when I was test-driving 05s before I bought mine. The difference is not just the leather, the seats themselves are completely different. The leather seats are not automatically heated though.

...If you have a conversation with someone and the topic comes up that you almost spilled your drink while driving to work...the KJ cloth seats will actually stain. Doesn't matter what your proximity is to the Jeep, they'll stain.

...the rear seats of the 05 lay "flat." They are not completely flat, but much more so than the pre-05s.

...rear cargo light

...Full-time 4WD (very nice on rainy pavement)

...It has cool step side bumpers that hang so low people will think you've figured out how to do a body lift on a KJ  (Internet Forum Lurking Vulture Disclaimer: This comment is meant for humor-related purposes only, any other use will void any and all implied and/or inferred warranties on said statement and will render the non-humor-related user retar....err, "Challenged.")

Advantages of the 04:

...Tow pkg (extra cooling)

...Fewer miles per year

...I like the color better (I don't hate the white, just like the green better)

...I like the rims better (I want to be nice here, but I really just don't like the rims on the white one)

Unknowns:
Does the 05 have Traclok rear?
Does the 05 have heated and/or power seats?
Does the 04 have an OS handle in front of the passenger seat, or just a flat dash?
Did the 04s come with passenger aware (whatever it's called) airbag system? (my 05 turns off the passenger side airbag when there is no one in the passenger seat and when there is something lighter than an adult)

You, sir, are a smart man. I checked out the Limited last night and the rear bumper was (poorly) replaced. The paint looked bad and it was missing the plastic "pad" that snaps on top. The bottom of the tailgate behind the spare still had a small dent on the edge. I had them pull up a carfax and sure enough, it said it was in an accident in '07. That was the only repair I could find. Other than that, there were several cigarette burns in the interior, the driver's seat leather was cracked, and the clear coat on the edges of the wheels was peeling. Mechanically it felt pretty good, though. I could probably get it for $8000 but they didn't offer me enough for my Sentra I tried to trade in. I might try to sell private party to get more money.

Sport, I just don't like all that chrome and those rims on the Limited.

I'd say go with the limited...

Though you should take a peek under each of them and see if either has a set of skids and tow hooks. Make the dealership swap them over and include them on whichever one you buy :D

Limited, you can always add the extra cooling fan and hitch for the tow package.
