Treadwright 245/75/16 OTR Installed !!!

Well I finally got around to getting these installed and first impression from them on the KJ was... AGGRESSIVE!

Tire installer and customrs alike were all asking me where I got them and how much were they. I told them I got them for about $400 and they are rethreads and their jaws dropped! they could not believe they were rethreads and stated at the cost, they thought they would cost at least $600 or more.

So they installed the tires on the KJ and dropped the jacks. I immediately noticed it was alot higher than before. I installed a 2" spacer kit prior to installing it and I still was able to see the height diffrence. With the tires installed there was an inch and a half height difference (higher).

I took it out the shop and began rolling, immediately I noticed they were LOUD!!! between 30-40MPH they was a moderately loud drone noise. At 60-70MPH really loud drone noise to them. So I cranked up the radio and called it a day. Then again what can you expect from these type of tires... These tires are not for everyone thats all I can say...

As you can see from the pictures, I have not done the pinch weld mod and to be honest, there is no reason for me to do it with these tires. They DO NO rub on the pinch weld or the foglamp access door.

Pictures shown with the steering wheel turned to get the closest to the pinch weld as possible. As you can see they is no rubbing. I do not even rub in full lock.

I have gotten to take the KJ out to the dirt (Where the mudders of Miami go after it rains) and I must say it has a very comfortable ride to them. The casings of the tires are Micehlin M/S which have a soft side wall to them yet are sturdy enough.

I must say it has changed the look of my KJ dramatically and I honestly think the Kj now looks incomplete without a roof basket. here are the pics I took showing all sides of the tires and the KJ. Well tommorow I'm going down Tamiami Trail to Loop Road in the Everglades.. It's 25 miles of rough dirt roads with plenty of aligators and snakes sitting in the middle of the road...

The tires make the Liberty look a lot better. I'll be getting a set of those in the spring, I'm surprised you didn't have to pound on the pinch weld. I for sure will have to I'm installing them on Moabs. Hope you get plenty of life out of them.

The pinch weld in most cases will only be rubbed if you go to a wheel with less backspacing.

I'm running the same size on the same wheels and have been for a year and a half, and still have not touched the pinch weld

Um, your spare doesn't match. Highly recommended if you go off roading often. Include it in your tire rotation, 30K miles = 24K per tire.

For $400 bucks, you sure can’t complain. :wink:

Those look very nice and hopefully they wear as good as they look.

I thought I was fine with a mismatched spare (same size- diff company) but at Moab - I cut the sidewall on a tire - not repairable - and according to the computer at the only tire shop in Moab - there were no replacements in Utah. - so I ended up buying 2 new to have matching tires on an axle - but 2 new vs 2 worn - causes shifting problems with the 242 transfer case.
Life would have been much easier and cheaper if I had replaced 5 initially (and I will in the future)

It does look good.

Well I do have a fifth wheel being shipped to me... it was on back order and it should be here in 3 days...
