So my wife was driving the Jeep when we were coming home from skiing yesterday. Basically we were going 65mph when two pileups happened (we were able to brake to about 20mph before actually hitting the car in front of us). It was a 5 car accident...and we were number 5 to the "get together." There was another accident behind us with injuries that ended up shutting down the entire Intersate...no idea how many more cars were involved back there.

We hit the driver's side rear quarter panel of an Xterra (which had already been hit by a Dodge Truck about 1.5 seconds before we got there) and had stopped dead in the left hand lane. The KJ was wedged between the Xterra and the center wall of I-70. The KJ held up really well considering...

There are some surface scrapes from the center wall on Driver's side mirror, flair, and front tire. Luckily I think the MTR took the brunt of the wall and was relatively unscathed. The passenger side didn't fair as well...we hit with the bumper first which pushed back into the flair and wheel liner (the flair and liner both got ripped off and popped in to traffic). Again, the MTR likely kept the Xterra from scraping down the entire passenger side of the KJ. The flair is completely toast, but the bumper cover is salvageable...just scraped up.

When you consider what could have been I think we made out pretty well! No airbags deployed and as far as I can tell we only hit plastic parts/tires. I need a new front turn signal, a limited flair, and probably a bunch of plastic rivets. Not bad!

Anybody have an idea where I can get an unpainted 2002-2004 passenger side front Limited flair?

you really should have that checked by a body shop. I thought I only had minor damage like that when my son hit a deer but when they started taking things apart the unseen damage was worse. Good thing the insurance covered everything with no questions asked and no increase in rates. Deer hits must be some sort of freebie because you can't sue the deer!

good to hear that it was minor and both of you are okay. If the MTR's banged into anything, you should get that whole suspension and front drivetrain checked.

Now is an opportunity to put money in for a RL front bumper before the line gets too long.

This is why I leave at lunch... You DMA'ers drive like a bunch of retards once you get west of Evergreen... Maybe it's the thin air...

Edit: That's not really fair now that I think about it... most of you drive like retards east of Evergreen as well...

Glad everything turned out OK, but as others have mentioned it would be a good idea to at least get it looked at to make sure nothing got tweaked.

The few times I've been to Aurora to visit my buddy I've noticed this on the stretch between Denver and C Springs as well :P

Don't group me with the rest of them... Usually i'm the one passing people in the far right hand lane  .... as far as denver to the springs, 79 and no more... I have supported both the state patrol and aurora cops way to much :D

I can say the same for non-DMA'ers. For you to clump all Metro people in the same category is just as........

Thanks for proving my point... apparently DMA'ers think doing 79 in the right lane passing people is safe, responsible driving.

Glad everybody is ok. I remember on I-70 last year (1st week in April) there was a 100 car pile up. People were stuck on the highway for days. Good thing I had the urge to hit the resteraunt on the way out of Copper Mtn., if I would have left 10 mins earlier I would've been right in the thick of it.

75 cars... I totally called that one... I think people are trying to make up MPG's or something... the CRRRAAAAAWWWWLLLL up the hill and *FLY* down the other side... Weather sucked and I told my wife, 'if these jerkoffs try to stop, they don't stand a chance'...

They didn't stand a chance...
