I'm going to take the plunge and get rid of the Jeep. Going to trade it in on a 09 Chevy crew cab 4whdr w/5.3L, loaded out truck. Should be fun dealing w/dealers! Ah!

Why? What made you arrive at this decision? Even with roasting an engine, I'm not giving up. As a matter of fact, I think I've figured out the root cause of the turbo failure which led to the engine failure - the CCV flooding the turbo with oil. That may have contributed to the turbo failure, it certainly didn't help matters.

Just a thought, you may do better selling outright.
The Hummer dealer in the next town closed up and the building is now filled with Chryslers, Jeeps, and Sprinters from the dealer next door.
Dealers are hungry, but they will stretch the Kevlar on your under pants when you try to trade.

Since my knee replacement I found that I need/want more room. I really miss not having a truck. Even though I've only had the the one problem(leaking fuel heater plug-in), I'm just waiting for the next thing to happen. I believe the truck I want will tow better with with the 5.3L and 6-speed auto tranny, more room for the dog in the back cause the seats fold-up. Plus I want to do my part to stimulate the economy!

A VERY secure job or all cash would be a prerequisite to such a move for me.
I have bad knees and got the big boy brackets, very nice!
Diesel will be cheaper than gas soon, until the 'Bama man cuts off supplies.
My last new GMC P/U had 15 service items under warranty, some I had to resolve away from the dealership.
Just think about the taxes you are going to pay?
How much do you want for it?
Times are tough and those models have a history of problems and breakdowns.
I might be interested if the dealer tries to hard to take advantage of your lack of common sense.

I know they are going to want about $20,000 trade difference, I've got the cash to do it. I've got to ask myself if I want to do it though. Don't know if my job is all that secure, but I have more money than sense. I live in an old house that has been paid for for 15 years and I'm a real miser with my money. I save until it hurts, then save more. People at work rag me all the time about how cheap I am, I can live on very little. If I want something though, I get it.

The Elantra is more comfortable to drive than the liberty. The Elantra has everything but a moonroof and leather. It get 38-40 mpg. I like it alot better than the jeep. Only maint. is change the oil. Warranty is a lot better than the jeep's.

How many miles? My landlord does a lot of low-speed driving around his property, something that his V8 pickup is eating him up on. He's interested in a CRD, even with the problems that mine has just had. I suspect I know a primary cause of my problems, and it won't be allowed to happen again to me, or any CRD that I have a chance to talk to the owner about.

LMK if you would be interested in a private sale, rather than the dumping that the dealer will do on you.

I might be interested in a private sell. The jeep has less than 39K and is a garage queen.

Over the past few months I've been looking for a nice clean XJ and noticed a couple of things. One is Caldwell Chrysler/Jeep in Columbus is selling clean off lease 06 gas kj's for $10,xxx rather then wholesaleing them:shock: That gives you a idea of what KJ's are selling for. The second thing is there is a tremendous demand for $4000 cars. The very small 2 man lot that specializes in affordable cars I got my XJ from told me they sold 40 cars in Feburary. Now they have maybe 12 or 15 cars total and are having trouble finding more cars and are having to pay more for them then a month ago. It seems people want cars they don't have to take out a loan for and many are loosing their company cars. Plus new car dealers need to mark up trades $2000 to cover their costs. These things put people with late model trades in a bad position. Private sales might be a good way out if you can gree on a price

Now you know why I snapped up another '87 MB not long after the other one was wrecked - reliable second vehicle, all cash, years worth of spare parts in the wrecked one such that I didn't totally lose all the money and time I had invested in it.

They only offered me $7500.00 a few months ago. Good luck, I understand why you want a truck and I would do the same as you if I could get more on the trade.

Well, just got back the the stealership. They offered me $10,000 for a trade and a $4000 rebate on the truck. I just smiled and told them thanks, but not thanks. I'll just keep shopping around.

The dealerships I went to only offered me $8500 for my Liberty CRD. I talked the 2nd dealership into giving me $10,000. I went to kbb and made a printout of my liberty and the options it had and took it with me. The dealerships both made a print out too but without the options to make it worth less. It's always a PITA to talk to car salesman, but the best time to go is when you DON'T need to buy a car. Good luck

I don't need a new vehicle. I should probably just keep the jeep. I have the Elantra as a daily driver. If I bought a new truck it would just be a garage queen anyway.

What brackets are you talking about? Do they relocate the seat back farther? Any info would be greatly appreciated.
